I guess I never really realized that it isn't called an iPhone, or the iPhone; just iPhone. In these little promos, it is just iPhone, like it is some sort of singular entity. What will iPhone do next?

"iPhone, ready to absorb..."

From what I've seen on Apple's website, it's pretty common with all their products. For example, when you install iTunes on a PC, the installation window says something along the lines of "listen to music while on the go with iPod and iPhone". There's also many times I've seen things like "the unibody construction also makes MacBook Pro more durable than ever." They really like acting as if their products are living, breathing creations...

id like to sort by price because generally i find alot of the free apps to be either lacking in useful features or crippled by poor ad implementation. very often i'll spend the $1 or $2 to get the "pro" version - i mean, at the end of the day, $2 is not alot of money if the app is even remotely useful - alot of people spend 10x that on dinner and only enjoy it once.

i immediately jumped on RedLaser even though it was $2 - in the first 30 min of use it more than paid for itself in savings on purchases i was able to scan in-store and see what online prices would be without missing a beat.

i like weatherbug pro for a few dollars as well.

i know some people refuse to pay for an app, ever. i don't understand those people, but i realize they exist.

i grew up in the "you get what you pay for" timeframe so i guess i'm not as price-adverse as others. i think generally, you'll find better quality/more useful apps when there is some revenue stream that is keeping research, development, bugfixes and improvements going. i think alot of free apps tend to show up as great ideas missing some implementation details - missed opportunities, etc.

After all their emphasis on gaming...

The Apps for Fun and Games section is at the very bottom of the page

hmmmmmm

while I love my touch and all of the great applications available on the store, I agree finding applications can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. I wonder what the business reason is that Apple has not implemented all of the standard search/sort capabilities implemented on many retail websites like newegg, futureshop, etc. (e.g. sort by number of downloads, rating, price, etc.)

not another flashlight app, ooh a screensaver...

Here is my favorite 'App for Everything' ;) iPhoneFL

Hey I tried the screen saver Splasmalemma on that page you linked and it crashed my system prefs twice before I managed to actually launch it for about a second. Then it crashed too. Too bad, the screengrab there looked pretty cool.
