I can't help feeling the better solution would be for Apple to design their laptops to be repairable using simple tools (e.g. like Lenovo does).
Having to read a 160 page manual, rent a complex toolkit, disassemble most of the laptop and spend $600 on a large assembly, just to replace the battery (a consumable item), is ridiculous. It's blatantly a ploy to head off the imposition of right to repair legislation, whilst making DIY as off-putting and impractical as possible.
