Apple today updated its "Shot on iPhone 6" microsite to include a new video section, entitled "World Gallery in motion." The new section more heavily emphasizes the video taking capabilities of the iPhone 6, with a tagline that reads "The camera that changed photos does the same for video."

The Shot on iPhone 6 site previously featured a few videos captured with the iPhone 6, but the newly introduced video-specific gallery includes a total of six videos that are new. The short 15-second videos, also available on YouTube, cover subjects ranging from birds, dogs, and bugs to landscapes. All are set to accompanying music and end with the text "Shot on iPhone 6."

Several of the videos, including the one featured above, show off video-specific iPhone 6 features like slo-mo and timelapse, while others simply depict scenes with impressive colors and clarity. Like Apple's "Shot on iPhone 6" photos, the videos were shot by iPhone 6 users rather than professional videographers. Photos on Apple's site include information on what filters were added, but these videos do not include details on software used for editing or changes made to coloration.

Apple first introduced its "Shot on iPhone 6" photo gallery and microsite in March, showing off a selection of photos taken by iPhone 6 users in a range of countries around the world. Apple's effort showcased the work of more than 70 photographers in 24 countries, with the photographs being used in print media, transit posters, and billboards across the world.

Good to see videos from actual users. Hopefully they get a lot more in the future

Just goes to show, it mostly comes down to talent of the photographer and slightly less to the actual equipment. I, for example, would never be able to produce such stunning work with my iPhone. :D

I'm surprised Apple hasn't exploited the sound capabilities of the iPhone for a "spoken over the iPhone" series, that involves hiring poets to speak poems over the phone.

some tripod for iphone probably, I mean I never met anyone who can hold his phone so stable to shot a video.

or does the iphone have any video stabilization mechanism?

Software stabilization on the 6 and 6 Plus, and optical stabilization on the 6 Plus.

That said, both methods aren't perfectly effective, they probably still used a tripod in the video above to get such a steady shot.

Gotta be in it to win it

The talent of the photographer is in the subject matter and composition. Dynamic range and noise and clarity is all about the equipment.

Pretty short those examples @ Apple. But better that nothing. The video camera is the iPhone 6's part that makes it standing out (almost all professional reviewers are missing this). 60 fps! Advanced image stabilization! Watch it via Apple TV on your modern LCD tv set: Awesome! Much better than all that 4K stuff where you need new equipment. 60fps are supported by all tv sets and computer monitors of the last 5 years or so.

I've put three longer videos here in my blog (the second and third one: filming while riding on a bicycle):

No other equipment. Recorded with native camera app. Original sound. Have a little sightseeing tour in Vienna, Austria. Enjoy!

The iPhone has the best smartphone cameras year after year. Keep it up Apple.

Of this there is no doubt. Yet, after seeing a photo a friend took at a party with an SLR, I was blown away. I had forgotten how good they were and what a difference it makes in depth of the picture. I may opt out of the 6s this year just so I can get an SLR. Or maybe a ProSumer version.

These are all lovely, but who the hell picked the music?

Oh man! Seriously? I absolutely MUST find out who sings the ladybug song!

Does anyone know? I tried googling the lyrics with no luck. Will scout the Apple page for credits next.

If you look at my video, the one of the dog, you can see the framing move a little. It's because I was holding the iPhone with my hand but have a pretty damn steady hand. They used the video right out of the phone with no editing.

Just uploaded.

A one minute clip (one shot) about giant bubbles and kids in Schönbrunn, Vienna. Recorded with standard camera app & iPhone 6 (setting "SLO-MO"). Shortened, applied slow motion section (nice smooth transition btw.) and added some music (standard stock) with iOS/iMovie in NO time. Uploaded to YouTube from the iPhone. No other computer needed.

Here you have—for comparison—the original file (no music overlay, no slow motion):

The camera is absolutely great! I'll need some minimini lens hood/matte box (kind of small ring) to be attached on the case for avoiding light scatter on back light shots.

The large greenhouse in the background is the Palmenhaus, Schönbrunn.
