From investors point of view September is a quarter. It’s Sep to Dec, or Q4.

Assuming we’re going by IRS, that should be July to September. Which fiscal quarter it is depends on when the company was established.

For example, the fiscal year at my work is from July to June so July to September 2021 is actually Q1 of FY 2022 for us.

Iirc, Apple’s fiscal year is October to September.

Till now Apple has not been impacted severely by chip shortages. Might not be that much of an issue going forward.

Marketing 101 talk…

Hoping this does not delay September's event. People are waiting what Apple has in store.

Is this a marketing trick for you to upgrade to get a new iPhone this September?

When have we heard Supply is not constrained at the product launch... Never.
The 8/8Plus and XS/XS Max were not constrained during their launches.
