These are totally amazing

Completely sold on the ear fit and the ANC is ... like black magic

Absolutely the "star" of the recent releases

Great great work here Apple!!
Oh wow. I was on the fence about whether I should take the plunge as I just got new 3’s a few months back (lost one at a barn).

Coming from you of all people, a longtime and perhaps sometimes overly critical poster, I’m sold!

PS: I think we’re both looking forward to what the iPad mini update is this fall, right?

@DevNull0 Well, they're not twice the price. The Pros are $70 more. For that you're getting better, nearly silent ANC, a better case, and yeah, hearing aid certification. I agree the gap between them is narrowing, just as it is with the Pro and non-Pro phones. But the difference in price is not quite as dramatic as you made it sound, and there are some features the Pros have that the regular AirPods don't. The process of achieving ANC on an IEM without silicone tips is more complex than with, but that doesn't make them more expensive.
Considering the nearly constant sales on Amazon where the APP2 sell for $189 routinely, the APP2 are only $10 more. Of course, given time, Amazon will start discounting the AP4 just as steeply, but for right now, if you don’t mind silicone ear tips, the APP2 are the way to go. If the APP2 irritates your ears or won’t stay in, then the AP4 might just be for you.

All the reviews I’ve seen have reviewers impressed with the noise cancellation and transparency modes of the AP4. Meanwhile competing products such as the Galaxy Buds open ear versions that claim to have noise cancellation typically have reviewers say they barely notice any difference between having it on or off.

So am I getting better ANC with AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 2?
Apple claims the ANC with the AP4 is about the same as with the first generation APP. The APP2 are better. The reviews I’ve seen seem to back up that assertion. While the ANC on the AP4 are good, it’s better on APP2. A CNET reviewer said that if you put APP2 at 8 or 9, you’d put AP4 at about 4-5 when it comes to ANC. Some are saying the transparency mode on the AP4 is even better than that on the APP2, probably because a lot of real sound leaks in.

The AP4 are for people who can’t stand ear tips that stick into their ear canal but still want good ANC.

Sadly I have the wrong shaped ears for these things.. I got along with AP1s for a while while audio was OK they were a constant tickly and fall out annoyance until I got the 1st gen AP1 Pros. Seems some are happy with them, they irritated me constantly and I would never go back to that fit. AP Pro models for me I think, particularly for running.

Tech changes like a H2 chip, a off button and a decent case?
For the people with the money to buy these AND the desire to, neither of those will dissuade them. These are like the Mac Pro’s of Apple audio, they won’t get refreshed anywhere near as much as the in ear products and they likely would have stayed on lightning with no updates until the 5 year point without the EU mandate.

I don’t mind paying for the Pro version if it’s better, but my problem is that I can’t seem to get any of of these things to stay in my ears. I have the 1st gen Pros and they slowly wiggle out (with me just standing around).

I was hoping Apple would have offered wings of some sort on the new Pros. Anyone have any recommendations for 3rd party accessories for solving this?
