Apple's year-old iPhone Mirroring feature is still unavailable in the European Union, and it appears that will remain the case on macOS Tahoe.

During its WWDC 2025 developer conference last week, Apple told French tech website Numerama that iPhone Mirroring will remain unavailable in the European Union for now due to continued regulatory uncertainty there.

Apple did not elaborate, but it might be worried about the European Commission eventually forcing it to expand iPhone Mirroring to Windows, or requiring it to offer Android Mirroring on the Mac. In addition, Apple offering iPhone Mirroring on the Mac might contribute to the European Commission designating macOS as a "gatekeeper" platform like iOS and iPadOS, and that would subject the platform to stricter rules in the European Union.

Introduced on macOS Sequoia last year, iPhone Mirroring lets you interact with your iPhone in a window on your Mac's desktop, over a wireless connection. You can use your iPhone apps, receive your iPhone notifications, and more, right on your Mac.

EU users ... you really aren't missing much.

I do basically nothing with iPhone Mirroring, as my phone is on my desk on a wireless charger and it's far quicker and easier to just grab it when I want to do something on it.
If iPhone Mirroring worked in the instances when you're on one side of the house and you need your phone on the other side, that'd be a gift. But currently, a connection can't be made across that distance unfortunately.

Lol. You people wanted this. You wanted Mommy EU to hold your hand in the world of tech. You wanted regulation after regulation, invented fine after invented fine for Apple.

You're getting everything you wanted. Except for perhaps any new features for iPhone that is 🤣

Not a bit surprised, EU DMA regulation stinks.
Good move Apple!
Lol. EU shooting themselves in the foot. This is EXACTLY what happens if you over regulate.

Thierry Breton in absolute shambles.
No different thsn the pre existing status quo then. It has always taken ages for new features to launch in EU or anywhere other than the U.S.

So…🤷‍♂️

no EU company founded in the past 50 years has a market capitalization exceeding €100 billion, while all six U.S. companies valued above $1 trillion were created during this period.

Instead of asking why this is the case, the EU will continue trying to penalize and regulate American enterprises out of a false sense of 'fairness'.

Crabs in a bucket and all that. They can enjoy more companies beginning to either offer less in the EU, or not offer products entirely.

At first, I thought this feature was pretty useless. But then, when I logged into AWS and was about to enter my MFA code, I suddenly realized how convenient it was — I didn’t have to pick up my phone to check the code; I could do everything right on my Mac. So if you ask me, I’d say this is a loss for EU users.

… shouldn’t you get your MFS code on your Mac already considering they’re linked?

Yeah, that would definitely be the smarter setup — if I had access to the original secret key or could choose the MFA method myself.
But in this case, the MFA was set up by the project owner and tied to my phone using Google Authenticator, so I don’t have a way to sync it to my Mac directly.
That’s why iPhone Mirroring ended up being surprisingly useful for me.
