iPad Keyboard

I would love to see them use this as a way to extend the iPad keyboard and make it full size.

The Palm Pre had this idea down pat. It worked really well and you could scroll with it when browsing in landscape mode.

Are you saying that Apple should have patented the method for "stealing somebody else's ideas" rather than pretend that they invented this one? ;)

well

I kind of like it. it could be a really cool addition. and I really hope they do do something about the notifications. because having that BS pop up in front of whatever I'm doing is really annoying. They should have a smoother scrolling notification at the top of the screen or something like that. so that if I'm watching a movie, I can hear the sound and see the message scroll but just let it scroll by and continue playing my movie or game etc..

ha

I guess this means no bigger screen?

I bet anything we never get one. it will be a total PAIN for app developers to create new applications for a new screen resolution. in order to make that happen they will have to make a larger screen with an equivalent screen resolution.

I thought the 'illuminated buttons" display is called a touch-screen? ;)

This one will never fly. Way too much prior art. Know someone that worked on a kiosk system back in the 90s where they had illuminated light guide framed around an LCD screen for this exact purpose. It was pretty simple to implement. A generic digital output PCI card lighted the LEDs on usage states. Be fun to just petition and show the examiner this prior art work to shoot this one down.

Smart Bezel with illuminated buttons could add further functionality and capabilies to your IPHONE. While I would rather see a larger 4" display which would be preferred by most.
Upcoming Iphone 5 might provide some answers. Keep in mind that just because the Patent was filed now doesn't mean that the concept has not already been included. Then again this might just be one of the Patents that gets filed away in the draw.
