I guess someone has said this but it is late and im too lazy to read but...
because Paris is in France and France is in Europe maybe they will release the iPhone and iTunes movie / TV store in Europe.

Nah

I doubt Apple will announce a new Ipod in Europe. I believe Apple will use this event to release more information about the European Iphone release. If they are going to announce a new Ipod in September it will probably be on the 18th. I am not sure if Apple does this but I believe the new Ipod they announce will at first only be available in the US. I think they will do this because they won't want to do anything to take away from the Iphone launch in Europe. I see the new Ipod having a widescreen, multi-touch interface but no blue tooth or wifi. I say this because the FCC will have to be brought in to allow bluetooth and wifi and at this point I don't think Apple has time to go through the FCC for the necessary permissions if they aim for a September release.

On the other hand Apple could release the new Ipod in the European event and have it available in Europe but if they do this I don't expect the new Ipod to be widescreen or have multi-touch because it would take away from the Iphone. The only way we might see a new ipod announcement with a wide multi-touch screen in Europe is if Apple truely believes that not having wifi, phone, and bluetooth on the new ipod will be enough to encourage people to still buy an iphone.

games..

the more I read about this event the more I get exited.

check this out

"Welcome to a new world of gaming pleasure – networked games, persistent worlds and online competition… this year, Apple Expo will give you the keys to open up whole new worlds…"

i'm looking forward to a 12" MBP.

but i'm not as hopefully as i was. i'll probably just end up buying a 17" anyways in october.

but lets go iPod update! i think that the most reasonable assumption. but that will probably happen after the back to school offer is over.

Did anyone else get the recent Apple email re. iPods?

A few days ago I got an email from Apple reminding everyone that now's the time to get those iPods engraved to give as holiday gifts. It showed an image of iPods hanging from a tree, and there wasn't anything there I haven't seen before. It made me think that they really won't be introducing new iPods before the holidays. Why would they be clamoring for people to get engraved iPods now, only to get those people angry when a new model comes out? My bet is on new iPods in January, at Macworld. Too bad, because I've been waiting since 2005 for a widescreen iPod with a screen comparable to the Sony PSP.

Apple will not release their new "Ultimate iPod" in Europe. They will have an iPod related Media Event prior to Paris, where we will see new iPods and iPod Nanos. But Apple will announce the iPhones release in Europe in Paris, and just go over Leopord. (Fun fun).

God Bless Steve Jobs:apple:

Apple has released new iPods before Christmas every single year since the iPod introduction.

There will be new iPods before the holiday season. September through November, who knows when, but we'll get 'em.

That's a bunch of Malarkey! Apple's pushing the iPods hard because they want to clear out existing product in the channel. Last year, right after the education rebate ended, Apple introduced a new iPod Nano and bumped the full size iPod. While some people may be upset if they buy an iPod right before a new revision is introduced, it'll be a vast minority -- a) it's the nature of the beast with technology that there'll always be something newer, faster and cheaper sooner or later, b) the age of the current iPod is public knowledge, as is the implication that the iPhone represents the future of the iPod, and c) if they do buy an iPod right before a revision, they always have the option of returning it to exchange for the new model. Besides, Apple had no qualms about intro-ing new iMacs two days after 10+ states had tax free weekends that included computers.

I agree with all that you said, but in addition, I could maybe see MacBooks in Paris. Apple will update the Macbooks again in 2006, and it won't be before Sept. 15 or after Nov. 25th.

*shrugs* If Apple doesn't come out with a new* iPod I'll simply spend my money on a new DSLR. Its either Apple or Canon. It depends on if Apple decides to actually do something other then OMG ITS IPHONE!!!11|||oneoneeleventyone

Yes I'm jaded.

*New. a.k.a not warmed over iPods we've had for 2 years.

Front panel cheese grater = speed holes

Makes melted cheese on toast with the dual Clovers underneath, and the Crossfire HD2900XT's on top...

Expected release date 25th September, 2010.

Seriously, they have to do something about the games. Steve made such a scene at WWDC, and now that the iMac has had half it's brain removed to make it more "lovable", I swear, the best gaming machine is the MBP (Semi joke, I know the MP beats it, but only with a BTO GPU)

All these new games, and nothing Apple sells will play them on highest settings. In my opinion, EA means Crysis for Mac eventually, and that means we need 8800's or 2900's ASAP. Apple can't go on about new games when the graphics technology they use won't meet the game.

And all iPods will come with inbuilt phone capability, just calls and texts. And will not be on contracts.

EDIT: That link back there sounds interesting in relation to games, but back to my point, how can Apple keep going on about games when their best (and really, only) piece of gaming hardware costs like AU$5000, and still only comes with an old, old X1900XT???

I'm hoping they're going to announce the new iPod and plans for the european launch of the iPhone.

However, I can't see any products being released on that day.. more just an announcement, with the hardware coming a few short weeks / days later :)

I hope a little more interest in Europe... why not a common iTunes Store for the countries with Euro?

If Steve wants to sell more AppleTV he has to launch TV Shows and Movies.

As a 12" PB user myself and having seen the 13" Macbooks, I don't really see the point of a 12" MBP. It's hardly any bigger and you get a far better screen.

A 13" MBP would be nice though!

Wait, is there something about the MacBook now that makes it unsuitable for Leopard? (Serious question, because I'm about to buy one. :))

I just feel as though the MacBook's current video memory system is not going to cut it with the very graphical interface that will be coming in Leopard.

I do think we will have a "hardware refresh" of the iPod line on September 18, 2007.

However, I do think the current 2G nano is NOT going away. Apple will drop the 2 GB model, make the 4 GB model the "low end" model, make the 8 GB model the "mainstream" model (in up to 10 different case colors), and offer a new 16 GB nano. Apple will offer a new "intermediate" model that looks like a reduced-size 5.5G iPod but with either 8 or 16 GB of flash memory that can play videos in the same format now used on the 5.5G video iPod. And we'll see a high-end 6G video iPod with touchscreen controls with either 60 or 100 GB hard drives.

Some of you must be in deep REM because you have really vibrant dreams. Do you really think Apple is going to give Europe, France especially, the pleasure of being the venue where it announces new iPods after its been such a PITA targeting iTMS? HA! Jobs has a much longer memory than you guys.

IF there are new products it will be Euro iPhone + some annoucement about Apple TV for Europe. No iPods. Maybe a Leopard ship date revealed but we all know its Oct 26 anyway (last Friday in Oct.)

Being as the US is the biggest iPod market Apple will save any new iPod announcement for its usual Fall Special Event.

There will be no iPhone in Europe yet. Contracts are not settled. No new iPod.

Maybe movies on iTunes. That's all I think will happen.

Considering that Stave Jobs mentioned that there are a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for the rest of the year I would expect something to come out of Paris. I think it is a situation where Steve is not pissed at the French - just at the French politicians.

The iPhone for Europe is a good bet, as is a new iPod.

A Mac mini+ would also be a good line to announce in Paris.

New displays would also be very nice and an iSight camera can be blended in just as it is in the new iMac to avoid cluttering up the overall design.

The simple fact is that the Paris show provides Apple with a lot of free exposure to the media and they would be foolish to pass up the opportunity if they in fact have a lot of products lined up for the rest of 07. Time to take advantage of the opportunity.
