Apple Extends Free Access to Satellite Features Across iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 Models

I'd like to know Apples long-term plan for this - it can't surely be another subscription? It should either stay free or come bundles with iCloud maybe?

I used it for the first time recently on my 15 while camping in a remote area. It worked great, was able to send and receive a few texts with friends. That said, the weather feature would have been MUCH appreciated!
