I have the BCM94322MC installed in my 5,1 -- it appears that it is connected to 2.4ghz wifi. This card should be able to connect to 5ghz - correct? If so, how do I get my MP to connect to 5ghz?

Did you click the box in /System Preferences/Network pane, wireless box to see it in Finder bar?
Let me clarify - my router/gateway has the blend for both 2.4ghz/5ghz under the same SSID. In other words, I can't choose a specific speed over my home network. Thoughts?

Yes if it has the same SSID name then it depends on channel the router is transmitter is at. Try changing the 5Ghz network broadcast channel to 132 to see if you get better true speeds! Plus 5Ghz doesn’t go as far As the older 2.4 systems! So you have to closer to 5 GHz Network!
