They should sue google too then for Google Voice or whatever it's called. China is useless, all they've been doing lately is trying to rip off major American companies and give them a problem. Give me a break..

... (P.S., my money is on #2 above)

I think you are right... Originally it was a chat bot that you added to your buddies list on MSN Messenger, Yahoo, etc. Then they added voice on later when smartphones came out and used the Apple-like interface.

.

Sigh - Another day, another lawsuit. I am not saying that Zhi Zhen don't have a legitimate case…

Probably it doesn't have. These lawsuits from the next big economies (Brazil, China) appear to me more as masked blackmails, where their companies get needed money to develop themselves thanks to their governments that leverage the fact the western companies need to be in those markets support them.

When you post stories like this, MacRumors, could you at least tell us the key information.

Like, for instance, exactly how this patent is being violated by SIRI?

Or even whether it is a utility patent or a design patent? (Do you know the difference?)

All you talk about is how things look. Do you realize that patents have nothing to do with looks? Design patents dont' cover software.

So, without this information, your story is simply "someone says apple violated their ip rights".... it is useless.

Anyone in China claiming that they had some intellectual property stolen is laughable. Culturally, they are taught from birth that there is no such thing as intellectual property rights, and that everything is community property. They are taught that copying is a good thing.

I had a long discussion with some colleagues in China on this subject when we were trying to have them work on content that required a Certificate of Originality, and they had difficulty understanding the basic concept of intellectual property rights.

And what did your Guru Steve Jobs say? Good artist copy, great artists steal:

Seems everyone is after Apple. But then again, this is just normal business these days.

It's just surprising to see a Chinese company sue for patent infringement when Chinese companies are so well known at infringing on patents.

Yet they manufacture 90% of your gadgets, if not all of them.

Oh and by the way, you are borrowing their money

Invented in one thing, manufacturing is another. Manufacturing without the constraints of employee rights, pollution control or intellectual property is a house of cards. At some point it will be a lot harder for China to compete because they will have to change.

Not Again!

Apple's crack legal team - are they on crack?

Why didn't they get a license?

So if the Chinese company patented this prior to the iPhone, I fail to see how the Chinese company is in the wrong. It also seems that when a company uses something similar to what you'll find on an iPhone, it's perfectly okay for Apple to sue but not the other way around?

Considering Apple had voice recognition in its machines last millenium what exactly are the grounds to sue here? I mean "chat bots" have existed for pretty much as long as voice recognition has with various simple programs trying to simulate intelligent behaviour.

The techniques that Siri uses might be more advanced, but unless a specific technique is the issue then the technology here is actually pretty old.

But I don't believe that Mac feature is available in China or in Chinese.

the question is, which company that doesn't sue apple ?
you can use a life line.
