I check my UPS log and sure enough, my Mac Mini is coming from a factory in China that was listed in the same city as that call. I didn't answer my phone because I did not know anyone from China. Now I'm worry. It cost 5 dollars a minute to call China and I don't pay for my phone plan.

What would you do? Should I be worry about my Mac Mini?

It's a scam.

Because of constant breaches and leaks from every source into every direction, assume that scammers have some personal information that you thought only legitimate institutions would know.

Now with the increasing prevalence of AI, you cannot even believe what you see and hear.

So even if you get a FaceTime call from your own mother's phone number and you see your own mother's face and you hear your own mother's voice, saying things that only she should know, if she tells you to send her money, even if it is for some life or death emergency, hang up.

If you must, go find her in person -- physically -- and ask her. That should still be a reliable method, for now.

Yes this! I ordered something from Apple recently and got a text that my “Apple UPS delivery” is being charged “interest” because I didnnt pay some delivery tip. The scams are getting sophisticated in terms of the data they use.

It would be cool to get a FaceTime call from my mother or just to hear her voice again...considering she left this earth eons ago.

If that happens, I will send Monopoly money!

the apple factory in china called me just now, and assured me they did not call you at all... just thought you should know. & tim cook was there, i spoke to him personally. he asked to borrow some money (he'd left his apple card in the U.S.), so i just venmo'd him $1000 (as he promised to pay it back 'next week', plus he'd send a bonus macbook pro).

some of us can not be scammed 😎
