I'm guessing the email said *from* April 24th and it would give you a delivery ETA *before* you place an actual order.

There is no controversy here.

It's not false.
Apple Watch itself will see a public launch on 24th April.

And this is entirely accurate, Apple Watch is indeed available on April 24th. YOUR Apple Watch might not be but that's the same for every single product released by any company, anywhere, ever. Good lord the things some people will find to moan about...

I was initially under the impression that you would be able to walk in and purchase one after the 24th but now looking at the shipping dates i can see that's not going to happen.

It has been pretty well covered for weeks that Apple wasn't going to have them available in the store and it would be online ordering only for a while.

Pre-orders will be fulfilled on 4/24 but it's not available for sale in the stores on 4/24. Who are we kidding? We are already looking at June July Aug shipping times and that was like 5 minutes after it went on sale.

and some people will have theirs April 24... things sell out and get pushed back. If they only shipped 1 of each on April 24, it was available April 24.

There will be in-store reservations that will take place the day before or morning of the 24th (12am 24th April) for in-store pick up. That's not the same as walk-in sales. A walk in-sale would be someone who without reservation, appointment etc, walks in and asks to purchase an Apple Watch. Reservations and in-store pick up will be different.

said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores. “To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period.”

the above comment was published in the apple press release on their site.

the email said that at 4:31 people could place a preorder and the watch would be available april 24th, when by that time all watches were beyond that time.

nothing hard to understand there....

For someone who got a full night's sleep, you seem very agitated. I stayed up all night, yet am happier. You snooze, you lose.

It seems that it IS hard for some to "understand"

i was up at midnight placing my order..... then went back to bed.

Just because you received the email at 4:31 does not mean it was sent at this time. Apple has to send these messages to potentially hundreds of millions of email inboxes and they'll be done in batches, that takes time.

For example I got my email at 8:23am BST, 22 minutes after the pre-orders went live. Stop whining and making claims when you don't know what you're talking about.

And the Apple press release yesterday also stated:

"... we expect that strong customer demand will exceed our supply at launch, said Angela Ahrendts."

So some watches were available on the 24th. Stronger demand than supply means some won't get them on the 24th.

I don't equate that to false advertising at all.

NOPE.... it most definitely says AVAILABLE ON april 24

Mine says delivery 4/24-5/8. Not available on 4/24.

Me either- there's never any guarantee for any product from any company.
