Happy birthday to MacRumors!

As for the "vegetarian cake", I'm also guessing they meant vegan, which means no egg, butter or milk. It does end up more like bread than cake, but if it's vanilla or chocolate with enough frosting and you have iced tea to go with it, it's still amazing. :p

I was guessing they meant vegan. I didn't know lard was against a vegetarian diet.

As a vegetarian, myself, I'm surprised at how many people assume I'm vegan (or on the other extreme, that I also eat fish??). There's about as big a difference between an omnivore diet and a vegetarian diet as there is between a vegetarian diet and a vegan diet, as far as I'm concerned.

And lard, considering what's it's made of, is definitely not part of my diet.

Call me a skeptical pessimist but this sounds more like a way to get free publicity for their companies.

Happy birthday, Steve. Your vision of the user experience is sorely missed (especially after two days of dealing with AT&T's bulls**t that would leave you rolling in your grave, brother).

always get asked if I want to try something with seafood, like it doesn't count if it comes from the ocean?

How about if the meat is in really tiny pieces, like ground beef? I've seen that one before. Both as an offer from a meat eater to a vegetarian, and as a rationalization from a vegetarian who really wanted to eat something with meat in it.

hahaha wow

"can't you just pick the meat out?"

I hate to be a fuddy dud but is this going to be another Elvis thing? The guy is dead. There are no more birthdays. People need to get a life.

Congrats to Macrumors however! What a great site!

Happy Birthday MacRumors! At times the stories become repetitive, but you're always my first stop for Apple Rumors.

Happy Birthday Steve!!! You're gone but we'll never forget you.

Steve was known to eat seafood. I've known other vegetarians that don't eat chicken, pork, beef, or other land animals, but they will occasionally eat seafood.

I can understand why a vegetarian wouldn't have much of a problem with eating Lobsters, Crabs, or Shrimp. They are all arthropods in the same phylum as insects and arachnids. If someone has no problem killing a spider, scorpion, or insect in your house, then there isn't much of a difference between that and eating a crab IMO.

I'm not saying you are wrong not to eat it, but just saying I can understand the reasoning behind it for some that choose to.

Yeah I see what you mean. I think ethical vegetarians wouldn't kill insects, but people who don't like meat are more likely to eat fish.

Happy Birthday Steve & MacRumors!

I got a chuckle out of this:

To fete what would have been Jobs’ 57th birthday, dancers will gyrate to Bob Dylan songs.

I never thought Bob's music was gyrational!

Specifically, Steve was known to eat unagi (eel). Apparently he loved it so much that he just willed it to not be of animal origin.
