Actually my understanding of their offering is hardware virtualization. They are booting actual iOS by replicating the hardware and boot chain in software. So it should not be surprising they are going to lose this court case.

And when Corellium decides to sell only the virtualized iPhone hardware and requiring the user to download iOS from apple to complete the install, apple can sue the users

If they’d like.

Of course, inducing copyright infringement is also something corellium might be liable for in that case, depending on how they market it, whether they assist or instruct the users in doing the installation of the iOS image, etc.

I've never seen a library being sued for providing photocopiers.

Honestly. They should lay the groundwork and the user provides the firmware. Just like an emulator

Apple would still object. I'm sure there would be some DMCA hand waving because, in order to provide the firmware, you'd either have to jailbreak the phone to access the filesystem, something Apple can conveniently object to, or break the encrypted binaries that OS updates are distributed in (another DMCA no-no). And obviously there are EULA issues because you only have the right to use your phone however Apple says you may, which certainly doesn't allow you to use their code on non-Apple hardware.

But as it stands just distributing a stand-alone emulator with Apple's OS pre-loaded is pretty obviously pirating their OS. As interesting as this is, no way is this going to stand up in court.

Haha looks like they violate their own Terms and Conditions, or the Terms and Conditions are just Copy-paste with the name changed to Corellium

Looks like a lawsuit is to be expected from day 1

Corellium is not only distributing virtualized copies of iOS, but actively selling them and profiting monetarily from doing so. I have to side with Apple regarding this one. Not going to end well for Corellium.

That is not at all what they do.
