You would t try something based on its name or based on who’s part owner of it? So many people get uppity about people they don’t agree with but this is not what it’s about - the media has created this chaos.
I wouldn't try it because of Elon's bias, not because of a name. I was just commenting on it's similarity

If it will prevail, with or without Apple, then Musk should end this stupid lawsuit and move on with his life. We're not Vulcans, so logic doesn't really apply or matter.

How exactly is it winning? Most people I associate with have never even heard of Grok, but they have definitely heard of ChatGPT, and often use it.

Winning =/= the best at what it does. Winning = mindshare and trust, which Musk definitely doesn't have. The creepy anime "girlfriend" thing, for example, makes me want to recoil or vomit...I don't know which...plus Grok is trained on x.com posts...so, well..enough said.
Because ChatGPT is doing irreparable harm

Because ChatGPT is doing irreparable harm

To whom, very specifically? Businesses have no duty to protect, help, promote or prevent harm to other businesses.

Grok (and Musk) are doing harm to Memphis with their illegal power generation and associated air pollution, as we speak.

It’s about allowing all users to install anything they want on their iPhones they paid for with their own money. It doesn’t matter if it’s Elon or the next big thing. I want to install whatever I want on products I own. It’s wrong that Apple hasn’t allowed users to install whatever they want.
You can install it though. It's right there in the App Store. Just do a search for AI and it comes right up. What are you talking about?

"...Apple intends to partner with other generative AI chatbots" beyond OpenAI in the future"

Well I should hope so. Siri is desperately in need of help.
This sort of broken music integration has been my worst complaint with Siri. I use Siri to be hands free when I’m biking or driving, and it’s so hard to get it to play what I want.

Me: Hey siri, play “song” by “slightly obscure artist”

Siri: ok, playing “different song” by “mainstream artist”

Me: Hey siri, play “song” by “slightly obscure artist” from my library

Siri: I couldn’t find “song” in your Apple Music library

Me: Hey Siri, play songs by “slightly obscure artist” from my library

Siri: Ok, playing “that obscure artist” from your library”

Me: Hey Siri what song is this?

Siri: this is “that song is been asking for” by “that artist”.

I'm pretty sure by "install" he meant having an option to chose Grok for the system wide LLM. Same type of issue problem, I would add the ability to select any search engine in a browser, not just those selected by Apple.

Trying to get Siri to pick playlists correctly is absolutely infuriating.
Heh. Yea, now try to it hands free on a motorcycle. “I can’t find that playlist, playing something you would like” and then Country music comes on. I have ONE country album in my library going back 15+ years and 400+ ripped CDs. I even pronounce it like Siri does. It’s like she does not even know me. 😂🤣😂

Years ago in propellor airliners like the Douglas DC 7 and Lockheed Constellation, there were four folks in the cockpit - pilot, co-pilot, navigator and engineer. They were all busy on the long flights across the water.

Now with literally computers doing the heavy lifting, the engines are computer controlled, the navigation is done by computer and on some planes the control services are moved by electric or hydraulics. It seems the pilot and copilot are there to just monitor the computers and be smart enough to take over when all the gadgets crap out.

The airlines are pushing for the pilotless aircraft like the taxis in some cities. What could possible go wrong??????

Big Brothers now have pilotless space craft that are launched and spend years in space doing what ever and can fly back and make a decent enough landing to be reusable on another trip. No need for food, water or even oxygen inside the craft.

Humans are seemingly becoming redundant (see mechanical security dog in use in Florida).

Our species needs to be very careful how far this AI goes or we may be out of a job and our very existence.

I do agree to the extent that users should have options to select their AI agent.

Even in Xcode, Apple allows different AI models and even locally hosted AI models. It would be nice to see Apple practice that on iOS.

Anyone chiming in and saying that Apple is in the right is a shill. External pressure to get Apple to adopt competition is a great push for innovation. Siri sucks - it's no secret.

Just yesterday I asked it to text my friend. Was told I didn't have anyone in my contacts named that way even though it was visible in my pinned friend's chats at the top. Good work.

Siri / sorry, I didn't quite catch that.

What has Elon done? He’s the world’s brightest mind. You don’t have to agree with his political views to think his mind and all he does is a service to humanity.
Yeah, what would we do without him?
