Apple this week began selling certified refurbished 2022 iPad Pro and iPad Air models through its online store in additional countries, including France, Germany, Japan, and the UK. Availability in the U.S. and Canada began last month.

The fourth-generation 11-inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip, sixth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the M2 chip, and fifth-generation iPad Air with the M1 chip are each available in a variety of storage capacities and color options. The refurbished models are discounted by approximately 15% compared to the original pricing of these iPads.

Apple first introduced this particular iPad Air model in March 2022, and the iPad Pro models followed in October of that year.

Apple says its refurbished iPads include a new battery and outer shell, a new white box, and all manuals and accessories, including a USB-C charging cable and power adapter. Apple says it puts refurbished devices through a "thorough cleaning process and inspection," and it performs full functionality testing to ensure there are no defective units.

All refurbished iPads are covered by Apple's one-year limited warranty and 14-day return policy, and eligible for AppleCare+ coverage.

While some savings can be had here, these are obviously two-year-old iPad models with fewer remaining years of iPadOS support. There are often better deals available for newer-generation iPads on Amazon that are brand new in the box.

Do we know when they will start accepting the new iPads for trades? Still only allows for recycling the M4 iPads which is crazy.

I'm not really sure. But I think it will happen when the M5 iPad Pro comes out since it's a new version of iPad Pro.

Got me an 11” M2 iPad Pro for £639, just £40 more than the Air but with ProMotion 🙂 Nearly £400 less than the M4.

It’s actually an early Christmas present for the wife, I already bought myself an M4 over the summer 😀 guess it will be interesting to see the difference in displays and thickness.

Here in Canada the difference between the base M1 iPad Pro 12.9" and the M2 is $180 in the refurb store. Was there a retail price difference between the M1 and M2 iPad Pros?

The M1's price didnt change, just the M2 appeared at $180 more. In years prior the older versions used to get discounted as newer refurb models came in.

Not a good deal considering Best Buy had them on clearance and they were new. Got my M2 Pro 128gb for $600.

I don’t think that their was a price change between the M1 and M2 iPad Pros. It for sure started at $1099 USD (128GB) for both M1 and M2 for the 12.9” model.

I saw that you were comparing the prices in Canada, I don’t know what the prices were in Canada.

What you don’t understand is that outside the US, the sales discounts are either very poor, or they just never really get discounted.

It’s one of the reasons why the 15% savings is enticing.

Good to see its availability expand. But new ones could be had with significant discount as well, at least in the US
