So I was looking at the comparison spec sheet for the new iPhones and in the "Audio Playback" section they list FLAC as one of the formats. Does that mean Apple is finally getting on the FLAC bandwagon? I'd love to be able to buy and download FLAC or even ALAC music from the iTunes music store. That would be fantastic. Guaranteed lots of people would love that option. I was even switching to different iPhone models and noticed FLAC was listed for iPhone 7,8 and X as well.

I know iPhone plays Apple’s lossless files so if you can convert there should be no loss with lossless files.

Yes true. But I know myself and many other would love to natively play FLAC files in iTunes and sync them to our iPhone or even iPad to play on the go. No need to convert. Would be amazing if Apple offered Lossless music downloads from the iTunes Store as well.

Why finally when it was an option for years?

Only since the iPhone 7 it seems. But that doesn't make any sense if one cannot even play FLAC files natively in iTunes. How can those files be synced to the iPhone if iTunes can't even play them?
