FAS in a ruling that ordered Apple to address the regulatory violations by removing rules that allow it to reject third-party apps

Does that mean if an Anti-Putin app is submitted Apple will have to approve it and they will be fine with that?

"Apple occupies a dominant position with a 100% share of the market for mobile apps based on the iOS operating system"

Cool, let me try this.

"Sony occupies a dominant position with a 100% share of the market for console apps based on the Playstation operating system"

"Nintendo occupies a dominant position with a 100% share of the market for console apps based on the Nintendo operating system"

"Microsoft occupies a dominant position with a 100% share of the market for console apps based on the Xbox operating system"

"Youtube occupies a dominant position with 100% share of the market for videos based on the Youtube platform"

"Google occupies a dominant position with 100% share of internet search based on the Google platform"

"Alexa occupies a dominant position with 100% share of smart home skills based on the Alexa platform"

"Twitch occupies a dominant position with 100% share of live streams based on the Twitch platform"
Apples and oranges, dude.

The technology illiteracy among governments is the biggest challenge to technology and the tech community. I understand Spotify or Epic’s argument. At least that has some basis. This one is plain stupid.

I think argument is more that Burger King won't let you bring a Big Mac into their restaurant and eat it there.
More like McDonald's can't walk into Burger King and use their equipment/ingredients/staff to make and sell a Big Mac to Burger King's customers and walk out with all the profit. A customer who has already bought a Big Mac can bring it in and eat it just fine (just like someone who paid for a subscription on the web to Netflix or Spotify can use it just fine in the app)

Boom! Another domino falls. Yet another international regulator affirms that the ascendent definition of "market" for competition regulation and antitrust purposes is defined by platform, eg iOS, (and Android), and not "Smartphones" as a whole.

iOS is A market, Android is A market, and competition regulation is to operate within each of them in isolation, when considering how platform owners wield power within those markets.

This will continue the trend whose eventuality will potentially render as moot Apple's primary argument - that by selling fewer phones than all Android makers put together, they are by definition incapable of being considered to have monopoly power.
Don’t get too philosophical. This is because 1) Apple is the richest company on the planet and everyone will try and milk them for profit 2) Russia wants Apple to have preinstalled Russian apps on iPhones . Apple, obviously, pay some small fine, than lose prestige and profits in the future, much greater than 12 million

Lol. As usual you completely miss the point. Every one of those systems you can get games/apps for in multiple places

With the iPhone/iPad you have only ONE place to get games & apps.

Lol you completely fail to understand those games/apps still go through the platform owner's policies.

So what's the point of buying a Playstation game from Best Buy when Sony still makes a cut and still reviews the game?

And what "app" can you buy for Playstation outside of the Playstation Store? AFAIK, ALL APPS are only distributed through Playstation Store and cannot be bought outside of that.

Technically, that's wholly not true. You can only get and install games (software) via their (Sony/Nintendo/MS/Atari/etc) approved venues. They sell via their approved physical method, and their approved digital. Just because you can buy a disk at your local pawn shop, it's not allowing you the freedom to download the software from a site and burn your own disk.

Also, MS has made it abundantly clear with their roadmap, they will be abandoning physical media as soon as they feasibly can.

Also also, let's say I have an all digital PS5, it's the exact same thing as the iOS AppStore. Then there's the argument that Sony won't let me play God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn on my XBOneX.

$12M is pocket change for oligarchs who have billions. Same for the government that continuously robs its people blind. I won't even mention Apple because they probably spend more on toilet paper per month. I think this is more of a symbolic fine than anything else.
You forgot that part “…said the FAS in a ruling that ordered Apple to address the regulatory violations by removing rules that allow it to reject third-party apps.”

That means, if they don’t obey, 12mil will sum up quickly. 👍🤣

You are aware that all of the games from those devices are controlled by the device owners. No one can release software for any of them without approval. Therefore they are exactly the same as Apple although you can buy the software in more locations, unless you have an all digital device in which case it’s the same as Apple.

I am amazed how many slaves here are fighting and rooting for a transnational, environment destroying, highly egoistic corporation like Apple.
When Apple amasses its armies on the Ukrainian border after seizing the Crimea and creating a fake "republic" nobody recognizes except Apple, I'll be the first to condemn them.

Hahahahaha!!! Sounds like some oligarch needed $12m!
I mean, that's far too small a figure to be considered particularly legit, no?
