So, what's wrong with that kind of repair? I mean, the glue gets polymerised all over the area & the gaps it fills, no liquid can get thru.

The false water resistance is due to adhesive under display frame, earpiece, speaker/mike & sim-tray. Back glass never spills, unless it's shattered all around.

BTW, from my friend's experience in iphones repair, they've seen water damaged devices in otherwise new condition, like 1-2 weeks from purchase date (by activation date). Just because of Chinese workers simply forget to remove adhesive layer protective film around an earpiece, so the adhesive won't adhere. Needless to say, apple rejected to service those phones.
3rd party says not to submerge the device after the repair. Around the camera bezels is hard to seal without the glass going under the bezel. Besides, if you have AppleCare+ replacing the rear glass is $29. They give you an entirely new chassis and put your logic board, display and some other components into the new chassis. Seems like the way to go to me

Well, how much would that repair average in cost?
Which one? Water damage to the logic board and/or display assembly, or the rear glass replacement?
In my place, the latter costs like $30 to $70 bucks. I currently live in Russia, though ,)

For the water damage, depends on many factors. In a worse scenario, requires replacement of display assembly & some micro-soldering works. My friend charges really cheap 'cause he only works with front-end "service shops" that do all the end-customer related stuff & even disassembly. So, he's mostly dealing with the boards, rather than phones themselves, charges fixed price per model (iphone x/xs/11/12 rated differently) for whatever micro-soldering job, except for CPU-lifting (really hard to perform, thus pricier). That's a weird pricing model to the marked, but works really well for him. I don't remember exact numbers, but say $35-$40 for iphone 11 board repair & alike.

It's clear that you never used a (polymer) adhesive in your life. Nothing to be ashamed of, but still.. 🤦‍♂️ Wonder why would you even start to argue
Let's get this clear YOUR trying to argue. I gave an opinion which on a public forum is how it works. You gave yours, which I obviously disagree with. By the way, I'm ashamed of nothing

I'm not trying to argue with a person, clearly stating nonsense doe to zero tech experience, but only googling around for a hefty sentence. I'm just showing it's not true.

The third-party services won't cover water damage cases not because of a chance for polymerized adhesive failure, BUT BECAUSE APPLE CAN'T GUARANTEE DEVICES ARE WATERPROOF. No one in sound mind would bear responsibility for OEM failure.

After reading some of your post history on this forum I understand the type of person you are and will just say have a nice day..
