I really hope Apple doesn't dilute and ruin Fitness+ with more celebrity appearances and the like. This is just my opinion, but the "Time to Walk Audio" was a step in the wrong direction, as it takes away from the app's core focus on fitness.

I would much rather see Apple spend all that budget on paying their excellent staff of trainers, and slowly growing out the core product with more types of routines. It's all about their staff. Kyle, Bakari, Kim, Emily, Brian, etc...all those trainers are what makes the Fitness+ app stellar. Not the lackluster UI, and not the celebrity walking podcasts.

What is it missing?
Anything that make it better than using one of thousand free similar video collections available on YouTube. And no, seeing your Apple Watch on a tv isn’t enough, as you can just see the metrics on your wrist or on an iPhone.

Personally I’d consider some personalised plans that adapt to the person using AI, perhaps including things that aren’t videos of people jumping around… if I wanted that kind of thing most gyms here offer it for free with real people. The killer feature for me would be something that does at least some of what a personal trainer does: picking up exercises, adjusting load etc. potentially even using cameras to comment on posture would be a great feature. But no, videos of people jumping around with bad music isn’t appealing at all.

Such a lacklustre service and for an extortionate price.

Just over £6.50 per month (taking the annual plan) seems really good value to me, not to mention the health benefits. And that's before the free months…

It needs a complete overhaul to be worthwhile. Adding more of the same doesn’t make it any more attractive.
How many workouts did you complete before you came to your conclusion?

I'm a little confused. Fitness+ is constantly adding new workouts. Is this just about new artist spotlight workouts? If so, those are ... not my favorite. They're weird, with odd fawning over some random singer that detracts from the exercise. I guess they're popular (or they wouldn't make more), but I don't see the appeal.

That complaint aside, I quite like Fitness+, especially with the workout plan feature they added in iOS 17. I've been a regular user for more than a year now, and I've been much more motivated to stay in shape than I ever was with a gym membership.

It's ridiculous Apple Fitness isn't available in more countries, especially considering it's original content made by Apple.

What possible reason could Apple have for not making it available here in South Africa? Everyone speaks English here and we already have Apple Watches, Apple TV and Apple One with Apple Music, Arcade, iCloud and TV+. Total bs.

Speak for yourself. Rihanna has the perfect workout music.

Great to see new workouts 💪

I still don't understand why it's not available worldwide. It's their content. Music maybe? They could just limit specific lessons/courses. Or some health-related legal concerns?

I'd understand with vast difference in jurisdictions all over the world, but what's strange is that it's available in some EU countries but not in whole EU 🤔
Media licensing deals are usually done on a country level, not for the whole EU. It‘s why streaming services have varying catalogs from country to country here (movie licensing is even worse than music).

Doubt it‘s Music, it‘s probably just localization / dubbing. Apple has this weird language barrier fixation with their apps / services, they probably think they get negative press when they release english only content in a country where english isn‘t the main language.

They need to create way more workouts and add things like boxing. I have hope for this service, but this point don't use it anymore.
Kickboxing is already a category of workout offered on Fitness+.

These are the Apple services not available in SA: Private relay, Apple News, and Apple Fitness+, certain Apple TV features such as the sports, and like everyone SA has a regional store which means certain popular apps aren't available and the app review system is also region locked along with music and podcasts.

I know, but there are valid reasons for us not having Apple News and sports. Those are complex licensing arrangements that probably aren’t worth Apple’s time for a country like this. But Apple Fitness is their own original content, and all the hardware and services needed for it are present here.

I think most of these services (while not inheritly bad) are just used as an excuse, to feed our dream of getting fit but without actually putting in the effort.
I remember seeing Schwarzenegger having written a book or an article about how you could get fit like for free with simple household items; I always found that inspiring.
If someone wanted to be fit, it could be accomplished with no money spent.

I'm saying this, because I heared quite a few friends using the excuse "I don't have money for the gym" to justify avoiding excercise.

Use the old adage "you can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make it drink". What Apple is doing, is making the trip to the water as frictionless, and quick as possible; but ultimately it's up to the users to "drink it".

You literally have full-fledged, intense workouts that could be done just about anywhere: on your watch, phone, iPad, laptop and TV. You have those things all around your house, and with you at work. Fitness+ really shines with bodyweight and small weight exercises. You only need about 6'x6' of space. There are reminders that can be set up just about every way to nudge you to work out. It's all integrated into health tracking. The trainers are specifically picked to be seasoned fitness professionals who are the best blend of teachers, athletes and generally upbeat motivating humans. I mean short of Apple taking your feet and making them jump, the company did just about all they could to get you to move.

If someone is blaming "the app", that's isn't their problem.

Not the same as boxing, and I guess I should add boxing with a bag.
Ah, and I’ve been asking for kettlebell workouts since the dawn of AF+, but after waiting 4 years at least we have “yoga for golfers” because that totally needed to be a added because I guess golfers can’t do regular yoga. *eyeroll*

Fitness+ is a fantastic service, much underrated.

Easily worth a good chunk of the monthly Apple One charge.
I agree

But something I would appreciate all the more if I didn't have to pay out the nose for Apple One Premier just to get Fitness+ bundled with everything else I get (half the stuff I don't even use; aside from F+ I also mainly just use the extra storage of iCloud+ and Apple TV+ (especially to geta little discount for the MLS Season Pass)

They need strength workouts with one of the modifiers using resistance bands. That would make it easier to do workouts while traveling.

Most of the 30 min strength workouts I have done have left me sweating and sore the next day, so I am satisfied on that front.

I like the short 10 min core workouts on days when I am playing sport.

Fitness + has left me satisfied in the one week I have tried it.

There are many ways they can improve it though.
