Apple today announced that Apple Fitness+ is set to gain new workout programs, breath meditation, Strava integration, and more.

Strava users will be able to share a Fitness+ workout directly to the Strava app, which will display rich details such as episode image and number, trainer name, and metrics to show to their Strava community. Celebrated Strava athletes will also join the Fitness+ trainer team as special guests in workouts throughout 2025. New and existing Strava subscribers can now redeem up to three months of Fitness+ at no additional cost.

An all-new progressive strength training program will help guide users through the process of building and maintaining strength. The program is three weeks in duration and targets every major muscle group with 12 30-minute workouts, and it is designed for repeatability so users can add weight as they grow stronger. Week one focuses on progressive load, week two focuses on time under tension, and week three focuses on dynamic power.

A new pickleball program is designed to improve strength, endurance, and agility with a mix of exercises. It features pickleball champion Catherine Parenteau, who has been ranked No. 1 in the world in both singles and doubles.

Yoga Peak Poses are new workshop-style sessions that spotlight a single pose to help users build confidence and skill, featuring a 10-minute prep flow and a corresponding 10 minute practice session.

A new Introduction to Breath Meditation program teaches users how to use simple meditation techniques to enhance focus, increase energy, and reduce stress. There are five 10-minute meditations to choose from. Breath is also now a meditation theme in Fitness+, joining Calm, Sleep, and Sound.

The new Apple Fitness+ content will be available starting Monday, January 6. A new limited-edition Apple Watch award is available for users who close all three activity rings for seven days in a row in January.

New episodes of Time to Walk are set to debut on January 13 with Adam Scott, Steve Aoki, Lana Condor, Tiffany Haddish, Rita Ora, Daddy Yankee, and Maddie Ziegler. Artist Spotlights also continue with new workout playlists dedicated to individual artists, including Janet Jackson, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and Kendrick Lamar.

I'm interested in trying the progressive strength training. I currently use Fitbod for weight training and had dropped Fitness+ because there was no way to make progress. It was just the same beginner-level workouts over and over again with bodyweight or light dumbbells. I think a lot of men exercise in order to build muscle, and Fitness+ didn't offer any way to do that. The new program still sounds rather basic, but I may give it a try. Fitbod is pretty good but the workouts seem a bit random and not very targeted.

Apple to regular users:

Here’s a puny 3ft charging cable, we’re going to nickel and dime you on iCloud storage prices. We have to raise Apple One prices because inflation!!

Apple to celebrities to make useless walking audio content that no one asked for:

PLEASE TAKE OUR MONIES!!! WE LUB YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU GET MONEY, YOU GET MONEY!!!!

This is interesting in light of what Strava have done to a large number of its users with restrictions that will severely limit the use of data.
That change is affecting how strava workouts export to other apps. Not how workouts in other apps display data within strava.

Most users don't actually use strava to track workouts. They share workouts from other apps with strava.

One of the most underwhelming and overpriced services Apple offers. It needs a considerable shake up to be attractive.
I mostly disagree. I think it probably isn't enough for super high-end fitness (but is anything like this available at this price?).

I've used alternatives like Daily Burn, and the integration with the Apple ecosystem/watch and other devices for access, the quantity of content, and the ability to use it anywhere I have my phone or TV in the house is great. As part of the Apple One Deal, it's a fantastic bargain in my opinion when compared to the prices of Peloton or Daily Burn alternatives.

I wish Apple would focus on streamlining their stuff before worrying about Strava.

Move some of the Health metrics over to the Fitness app (not Fitness+).

I mean why the heck is Running Power and Running Speed under Health?
And FFS, make all the metrics to be viewable on the iPad!! Again not Fitness+

I think this is intentional. At the age of 50 I see great value to their strength training content. I swap in and out of different exercises if I favour others and have been gradually working my way up in dumbbell size.

I think body building is a much riskier sport, injuries are much more likely to happen, big weights small reps. Apple won’t be creating content that allows users to more easily hurt themselves anytime soon.

And allow fitness + on Mac.

Never listened to any of them. Most of the people I've seen in that group are some of the most boring people, with little to nothing to say.

Well the, they are in the wrong business because you can get hurt in just about any physical activity.

Keep improving it and keep not giving a **** about most countries!
I'm sure they do. There's just local laws preventing them from offering it to them. You don't think they'd like to expand that cash cow as much as possible?
