I'm glad they are fixing this. I've had this issue for a while, but I didn't think it was a Safari issue; I figured it was a t.co bug of some sort.

Not opening shortened URL is not a bug (IMHO) it is a useful feature. You really have no idea where they will take you or your kids to. What about to some porno or even worse a snuff site?

This is why twitter has t.co, so they can control the media it links to.

Had this problem in Echofon, was driving me nuts. Thought it was a glitch with the app or t.co but apparently not.

This is good, it is quite annoying when this problem occurs. The worst thing being: when copying links in Twitter to open a new window or tab and paste it to open, Safari doesn’t copy the actual link that is visible, it still just copies the url-shortened link that isn’t openable. That is something I would like fixed about Safari, as well.

I just don't get it how a browser has to be fixed to access a peculiar URL. I don't suppose the twitter address is in anyway non-standard, so wtf ?

I don't think the fix has anything to do with the beta as I'm running 10.11.3 and was having this issue all the time but it's working fine now. I was blaming twitter's t.co servers thinking that was the issue and didn't realize it was a safari issue since it worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't like t.co was waiting on something or updating something for tracking ad crap or such. I was to the point where I always just copied and pasted twitter links in new tabs to skip t.co.
The problem isn't related to t.co links, or at least not entirely. If you click on a non-shortened link to twitter.com, it often fails to load in Safari with versions of OS X prior to the 10.11.4 beta.

Hopefully this fix resolves the issue of loading twitter.com as well; Safari has issues with the root domain as well as their URL shortener.

I only use it if I'm out and about because versus Chrome it saves tooooooons on battery.

Yeah, but that's mostly because Safari is so stripped down of features, there's really no excuse for it be intensive. However, Chrome does suck up a lot of RAM... but it's way faster.
