Regrettably, quite a few sites like banks, insurance companies, etc., not only use Flash but won't function without it (or at least function in a way where you can see what is going on). Believe me, I constantly try.

Now, you would think companies like banks and insurance companies would be very security conscious, and aware of the burden that maintaining secure versions of Flash (and Java!) places on ordinary users, wouldn't you?

Exactly why I would dump a bank who uses Flash for critical parts of mobile banking.

Do we need *any* Flash player? I can't think of any site that I visit that still uses Flash.
Unfortunately, there are still quite a few sites (e.g. some news sites) that require Flash and can't even be forced with ClickToFlash to display their videos otherwise.

Since I use html5 on youtube I have never needed flash for a good while now :D

Depeding on the content.... not everything is HTML5 yet.

I has not installed Flash for years...... if i need flash i use Chrome.....

I haven't had Flash installed on my Mac since early January. So far I have yet to run into a situation where I needed it. Hopefully that trend continues.

Loving it

I love how apple is protecting its OS. I've got to get my entire family over to macs.

If I knew for sure that bank A or insurance company B was both careful and smart about security, I would move to them. The problem is that I have no way of knowing right now who is. 20 years from now, I will know, because the dumb, careless banks won't exist any more. But now, I hear executives pay lip service, but, only here about the security disasters after the fact.
