Well the article said Apple are not using the new feature this chip offers.

This time next year, with the next Mac revision perhaps they will do, but it's a bit pointless using a chip NOW that offers a feature and not using that feature for another year.
Unless you are saying we will soon be seeing another Mac refresh that takes advantage of this CPU they have got a tiny bit early?

You might want to trust Apple has some nice goodies in Lion ... it's features are coming out next month. Be a little patient.

how are you going to keep an iMac cool with that kind of power demand?

LOL. I guess they run hot enough in stock configurations.

I wonder if more problems with overheating in MBPs and Imacs will show up when TBolt devices start to appear.

Not because of TBolt per se (although some systems do put a heat sink on the TBolt controller), but because TBolt will give these laptop-based systems high performance expansion capability.

With the added I/O capability, people may run these systems hard and long - leading to higher operating temperatures for long periods. High temperatures aren't good for electronics....
