Apple gave away my MacBook appointment..

Ughhhhh, so after getting VERY lucky and managing to schedule a walk in appointment for my liquid damaged MacBook, they've just text me asking me to head in-store.. the problem is I'm still at work! I was promised it would be after 5:30, if anything most likely 6pm ish. The guy was adamant that there was well over a 5 hour wait for a Mac specialist to see me, and now they've just handed my appointment out to someone else within 15 minute minutes of the first message.

Has anyone else faced this issue? Is it even worth me trecking down to my local store as soon as I leave work? They're open till 8pm but I get feeling they'll just turn me away.. again.

One of my colleagues told me today how she just stood in store and kicked off because of a similar experience and refused to leave until she was seen to, and apparently it worked.

You can't do a "walk-in" and then expect things to play out like you had made an appointment weeks in advance.

Think of walk-ins like being on standby for a plane ticket. If a spot opens up due to a no-show, you get the open slot, but if you happen to have to go do a "number two" in the bathroom while your name is called, and you don't make it back to get on the plane within a certain timeframe, that seat will be given to the next person on standby.

These "walk-ins" at the Apple Store are the same thing. Doesn't matter if they told you there was a waiting period. They had no idea that there would be a no-show out of the blue. All they did know with certainty, was what their schedule told them ... All slots are booked for the next five hours.

Next time you should be prepared to stick around the area if you decide to do another "walk-in".

It was more the fact that the guy was adamant about there being a definite 5 1/2 hour wait, purely because they were stacked deep with people walking in asking for appointments about their Mac's too. I gather that some people don't show up, just like I have had to do.. but roughly 10 people to no show all of sudden is an absolute pi*ser. I've been literally digging for gold trying to book an appointment. Every morning first thing I've been on the phone and there's been no appointments left.. my next store is over 2 hours away, and considering I work 8 till 5:30 there's no chance in me being able to make it to any of them.

Maybe try talking to the store manager to see what they can do. Worst they can say is "no".
