With led backlights using such little power they can’t use that’s a an excuse anymore

Very True. My Logitech K811 (6 years old now!) goes for a couple months without recharging.

And in a keyboard, unlike a phone, there is no negative user penalty for the weight of a battery. You use it planted on a desktop rather than carrying it around all day. Plenty of surface area available for a thin flat battery that would maintain Apple's precious slimness mantra and yet give the user a keyboard with a high quality feel that doesn't seem flimsy.

Darn, wish I could help you there. I got my X1 when they first came out to share amongst my aging 2015 27” iMac, M1 iPad Pro, and later, a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro for work. When I retired the iMac for a new M2 Mac mini in February, I was aware some people on these forums have had spotty connection issues with their minis. All I could do was cross my fingers and hope for the best. I guess I lucked out. Hope you can find a solution either with the current keyboard or something else.
my bluetooth CME music keyboard, my mac mouse & the magic keyboard never drop out. i also got the X1 when they first came out, and had no issues on my (previous) intel imac. but late in ventura (on the imac), i was getting some dropouts.

i'd suspect the keyboard, but it worked better with my M2 air (same OS). so... lol, not sure

i've looked at the logitech, but the raised back is a problem for my setup (i have a low-profile music keyboard right behind my typing keyboard), and i prefer satechi's mac-centric layout. but the logitech is, otherwise, a well-designed keyboard.

EDT: FWIW, my satechi X1 has been working really well today (i've been using the magic keyboard for the past few weeks). perhaps something fixed in the current beta? anyway good to have it back (for now at least).
