So I woke up this morning and got this in my email:

Dear Apple Customer,

Thank you for your recent Apple Store order. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in your iPhone activation.

We are still resolving the issue that was encountered while activating your iPhone with AT&T. Unfortunately, due to system issues and continued high activation volumes, this could take us up to an additional 48 hours to complete.

On Monday, you'll receive an email from Apple with an iTunes Store credit in the amount of $30. We hope you will enjoy this gift and accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this delay has caused.

Thank you for choosing Apple.

Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team

Please do not reply to this email.

The best thing is, I switched sim cards and was able to activate without itunes. LOL

This is why Apple is a class act. While they are still a company, and they do screw up and make people incredibly angry at times, they do try and take care of their customers.

Wow. $25 billion in cash and all they do is give you a lousy $30 credit.

We have to keep the bitchers and moaners happy. Of course, they'll be in here Monday bitching that their email didn't arrive early enough in the day. Classy move on Apple's part

:D

I didn't get an e-mail saying that.

I ordered from Apple, and actually activated through iTunes.

I imagine this is only for those who had activation problems and couldn't use their phones this weekend.

lucky you sorta

I went to best buy at like 2 ish (eastern time) on relase day and I activated 2 phones no problem what so ever. I was really surprised when I saw so many people actually having an issue with activation.

Received the same email

While I am not happy about having to continue this wait to activate the correct sim card, I am not totally out it the cold as I have swapped the sim card with that which was in my original iPhone. As far as I can tell, everything is working fine. I was going to try a couple of things to get it to activate later today, but now I am just going to wait another 48 hours. I would be mad as hec had I had to be waiting for activation without my original iPhone sim. Very nice of Apple to give us this $30.00 credit.

To all you Father's out there, have a GREAT Father's Day!!!

My activation just went through.. just had to put the sim card that came with the phone back in

30$$

Like I said when I started this thread, I just switched my sim card and didn't even have to wait. Lol.

Depends on the situation. When it's a widely publicized screwup like this or the MobieMe transition issues, Apple compensates those involved. When it's a lower-profile case affecting Macs themselves, Apple tends to drag its feet.

I just tried mine and still see the "no service" message. So I put the one from my original iPhone back in so I can use my new iPhone 3G S. By the way, what an improvement over the iPhone. I am impressed with the location as it pretty much pinpoints you. The iPhone was usually about 8 miles off from my home. I guess that is the difference in 3G as I am getting 3G service here. And the voice is amazing.

I love the forums! You can always get the best and real truth from them!
