Apple giving away bumper cases?

People FYI, I just called apple to ask some questions about my apple care and my order status and the rep added a bumper for free on the order, I am getting the bumper the day before or the 14

Just wanted to let people know, maybe you might have the same luck ;)

The question is did you order from Apple? I ordered from verizon so dunno if I would be so lucky.
 
Hopefully with the new antenna design, we'll not have the need for bumper cases for the sake of reception.

I Just asked about AppleCare+ if i was going to receive any documentation, terms and conditions and she just went on about me making a excellent choice and just offered the bumper for free :)

I used mine for a year, thought it was a good case. Did add an extra bit of chunk over most other cases though.

Note that the bumper leaves the metal antenna band in a horrendous state.

One reason not to use it. Like I said it's tacky and doesn't belong on a phone like the iPhone. It doesn't offer and real protection so what is the point.

Well, I dropped my phone several times and it saved it. Couple were sideway landings, and one was screen side down. It does add protection.

But, most importantly, it offered grip in my hand. That's the only reason I have a case on my iPhone 4. Without it, no matter how beautiful and thin the design is, it is quite a slippery thing to hold. The rubber case I have on mine also stops it sliding off the armchair on the sofa.

I can hold the iPhone just fine and don't find it slippery at all. I've also never dropped it. I'm not going to put something as ugly as a bumper when there is no point to it and affects the aesthetics of the phone.
 
i just called apple to check the status of my order cuz it still says Processing Items, and the guy on the phone told me to pick any case and they would give it to me fore free. he could tell that this was my first iphone so maybe that was part of it? i chose a speck candyshell.
