Apple plans to introduce its widely rumored augmented reality glasses in March or June of 2021, according to leaker Jon Prosser.

Yesterday, reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the Apple Glasses will launch in 2022 at the earliest, so it is possible that Apple unveils the glasses in 2021 and releases them in 2022. This would be consistent with the original Apple Watch, which was previewed in September 2014 and launched in April 2015. Apple also introduced the HomePod in June 2017 and launched the speaker in February 2018.

A lengthy gap between Apple announcing and shipping the glasses could provide developers with time to create apps and experiences for the augmented reality platform, provided that an SDK is released in advance. An early announcement can also help to prevent leaks, although Prosser claims that he will be showing off a prototype of the glasses soon.

Keep in mind that Apple is rumored to be working on two separate head-worn augmented reality products, including a bulkier headset and sleeker glasses. The headset is expected to launch prior to the glasses, so there could be some confusion between the products. In any case, it does not sound like either product is imminent, so the wait continues.

Kuo said RELEASE in 2022...so the same thing....they present them in 2021 and release them, like apple do with brand new category, after at least 6 months from presentation
So, what is he against Kuo ?

One thing is release/launch and the other is presentation of a brand new product
So both are saying that the release of the AR glass is 2022

"are aimed for March-June 2021" for presentation , but like the first iphone, apple watch etc there is a big time difference between presentation and launch (at least 6 months)

But developers didn’t have to do a thing with AirPower?

The developers bit was unrelated. The AirPower comparison was just referring to the early demo with a much later launch. Sorry, I thought that was obvious, maybe I should have made it more clear.

Hope they are ugly like the black one in the 1st photo, so I will not "have" to buy them, so I save money...😀

Well I wear glasses so unless they can be fit with the prescription I for sure won’t be buying them. I won’t be buying them either unless there is a demonstrated use case. So far it seems like Apple is desperate to make AR a thing but other than placing virtual furniture in a room or using my phone to measure something I haven’t had a use case for it.

I wonder if Marc Newsom was involved in these at all. One would assume Apple has been working 0n these for years.

Same with me. Probably too early for such a thing, but I am hoping for dynamic focal eyeglasses, something like:

With the glasses the need for a big phone goes away. Phones will go back to being feature phones or smaller, and will be a hub for apps and wireless comms.

Just like Apple killed cellphones back in the day, Apple will kill cellphones again.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if this happens. Glasses, watch, small phone and wireless earbuds/headphones – all working in seamless harmony
