I wonder if I could buy these tax free with my HSA like normal prescription glasses.

I hate all the mockup photos that try to make these look like non-ar glasses like the google glass. There should be the same image in both lenses.

Will this support prescription?

I don't see why they couldn't. Smart glasses like "Focals by North" already support prescription and are honestly pretty sleek. I imagine by the time Apple puts out their pair they'll be even sleeker and will absolutely support prescriptions.

Well I wear glasses so unless they can be fit with the prescription I for sure won’t be buying them. I won’t be buying them either unless there is a demonstrated use case. So far it seems like Apple is desperate to make AR a thing but other than placing virtual furniture in a room or using my phone to measure something I haven’t had a use case for it.

I wonder if Marc Newsom was involved in these at all. One would assume Apple has been working 0n these for years.
I also wear glasses, what I would like to see launched is VR glasses that has software myopia correction and you can calibrate/adjust the myopia degree via software!😳 Maybe in 2035?

Not holding my breath until I see it in action. Would they succeed where google glass has totally failed? I'm not too sure, and I'm sensing it's an approach to innovating into a new space/category with the same foresight, product mentality and creativity as innovating on the Mac by throwing in a useless Touch Bar.

Plus, it will be heavily contingent on reheating the buzz for AR and/or VR development. It's been several years since Glass and Hololens fizzled out, and on app level there's still not much to show in terms of lasting impact (other than gaming and some real estate demos).

Seeing Apple nowadays, make it 2065

How would these work for people who actually wear glasses to begin with?
Another question is does it just have the screen on the one side like in the pic? Will you be able to get a pair with the screen on the left if you have problems with your right eye?

With the glasses the need for a big phone goes away. Phones will go back to being feature phones or smaller, and will be a hub for apps and wireless comms.

Just like Apple killed cellphones back in the day, Apple will kill cellphones again.

Let's not start that. That is the same as the "iPad is/is not a laptop replacement" bit.

This would be yet ANOTHER category of device, more like the iWatch is. Albeit one with way, way more impact, if done right.

There will still be big, small and medium-sized phones, tablets, laptops, etc, for those that want them.

Only thing that can replace my smartphone is a chip placed inside my brain...

I actually wouldn't be surprised if this happens. Glasses, watch, small phone and wireless earbuds/headphones – all working in seamless harmony
Agreed, although I think you could skip the watch and/or phone when wearing the glasses (depending on the tech in them).

I wonder what this will actually be. Simply a monitor that is fed via the iWatch or iPhone? Or will it have full autonomy as an Internet connected device? Something in between?

I'm really excited to see which way it goes, particularly because it's ACTUALLY coming from Apple, it looks like.

But a Bluetooth Personal Monitor would be enough!

It'll be interesting to see how they support people needing prescription lenses. Some of us can't wear contacts so that would never be a solution.

Google Glass... People don't seem to remember that Glass had limited capabilities and was primarily a device for presenting information and for taking and displaying photos.

Expect a lot more with Apple's product, designed for AR and its huge potential.

Are people actually looking forward to this? I think it'll be awful. For one thing I hate wearing glasses (and contacts - I opted for lasers), but for another without physical interaction it’s going to have to be controlled by a) Siri and b) Apple's algorithms for predicting what it thinks will be helpful. Both those things are rubbish!

LOL! I seriously doubt it. Many expensive eyeglasses devices have been released before in the past several years, and all met with a VERY cool response from consumers. This is just another niche device that will be too pricey, under featured, and basically dead on arrival. At best they would be very awkward to use for texting, social networking, etc. iPhones will still be around long after this bad idea of a device is dead and forgotten!

If there is one thing Apple knows how to do, it's to give their devices a "killer app" feature that makes you WANT the device.

Them putting a lidar sensor on the iPad and extolling AR in their marketing is just the tip of the iceberg, I think.

This WWDC should be very, very interesting.

It’ll be another devise for well off enthusiasts who already own an iPhone, MacBook, Apple Watch, air pods, IPad Pro to add to their collection. But for many of us our phone is our only device so until something which can do everything better than a phone and more comes around it won’t happen.

Glasses + Watch combo could definitely be an iPhone replacement in the future. But it’s like iPad Pro, sure it can do most things that a MBP can, but yet, it doesn’t quite do everything. There is room for all of these devices to coexist for quite a long while.

My main question though is what does the Glasses look like for people who don’t wear prescriptions? Will it be sunglasses or something like Google Glass? Surely they want all people to buy these glasses, not just those with prescriptions...
