Apple has already finalized plans for next year's entry-level "iPhone 18e" model, according to a known leaker.

According to a new post from the Weibo user known as "Fixed Focus Digital," Apple has now locked in plans for the iPhone 18e. This is despite the fact that the iPhone 17e hasn't yet launched.

The iPhone 17e features the A19 chip, Apple's C1X modem, MagSafe, and 256GB of base storage. Little is known about the iPhone 18e's features at this stage, but the A20 chip seems highly likely. The Dynamic Island is also a potential feature since it was rumored for the iPhone 17e and many such features seem to trickle down to Apple's entry-level devices over time.

The iPhone 18e is rumored to launch alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 in the spring of 2027. The iPhone 17e launches later this week.

It will be probably 17e with new chip + Dynamic Island with iPhone 15 panels (higher peak brightness / hdr) and maybe UWB chip or N1 chip

Surely not. What about the sweat, toil, tears and blood from the hardware development and industrial design team?

I would imagine that in most cases, they have finalized the specs and design for future devices two years in advance. Phones require the most amount of testing before release due to cellular regulations.

Yeah thats why its always funny when there are stories 2 months before the fall release about Apple making changes to the phone or watch design.
Those are classic "leaks" by Apple PR to build hype. They have this bizarre need to continually claim Apple is so "bleeding edge," that they are tweaking things up until the day the devices are shipped.

A switch to the panel from the iPhone 14 panel that was used in the 16e and 17e to the panel from the iPhone 15 & 16 would necessitate a change in the frame too as the panel from the 15/16 is physically a bit larger. Good chance that they'll use the iPhone 16 frame (or 15 omitting camera control) with a single rear camera and a binned A20 chip.

Most likely will start using iPhone 16 panels and frame (probable minus camera control, or a simplified camera control that is just a button) with a single rear camera and a binned A20 chip.

A20 + WiFi 7 + Upgrade Front Camera?

I wouldn't be surprised if they introduce 18e Mini at $499. Given they introduce the Neo at $599 which I was not expecting them to do it as it was way cheaper than normal Apple pricing.

I sometimes wonder if Apple knows recessions is coming.

Considering that Apple used the iPhone 6 frame for over a decade until the SE3 was discontinued, I wouldn’t expect a change for the ‘e’ anytime soon. The equivalent for the iPhone 14 frame would be to switch away from it in 2033 for the 24e. 🙂
