Something like Athlytic or MyBodywatch for iOS would be interesting. I use those apps to track recovery. I prefer MyBodyWatch because it's completely free and seems very accurate, using heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep to give a score throughout the day. Seems easy enough for Apple to do the same.

Yes. Is this going to be medial advice? If so what data is it trained on? Is there any human intervention/review (like by a doctor or nurse) before the AI spits out this advice?

I’m curious how many people would pay for nutrition planning. My health insurance already offers that to me at no extra charge. It also has an AI bot that hooks you up to a registered nurse to answer questions. Why would I use Apple over that?
I pay for an app that I use to track my food as I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and need to watch my carbs. I would love to move to an Apple solution.

The current Health app feels kind of clunky. I wonder how Apple would improve it so people would actually pay for a + version. Mark's description can technically describe what the app does today. Minus the magic of AI, I guess.
Kind of clunky? You’re too nice. The team that developed the Fitness and Health apps should be fired. And shot.

It’s time for apple to do something:

A new, personalized health coach joins Fitbit

The new Fitbit health coach works like a real trainer. It adjusts the training sessions according to the user's specifications if they are on the move or have restrictions, etc.

According to the reviewer DCRainmaker, it is the best AI implementation he has seen so far.

Google Fitbit is ahead in sports metrics and AI Coach. Apple is again far too slow and behind.

but Apple’s wearables division is really missing an Oura-type ring and/or bracelet tracker that’s akin to jewelry for when you don’t want to wear the watch.
That's a small niche!

I often see videos where people wear a smartwatch/sports watch like Garmin etc. even with the ring.

Apple could do without this, they should rather focus watchOS / Health & Fitness App on sports like Google is currently doing with their Fitbit Health Coach!!!

I’m curious how many people would pay for nutrition planning.
For a really good AI coach who is responsible for training AND nutrition?

A great many!

Much more than there are Oura rings / whoop users.
But Apple shouldn’t be charging anything since it’s almost certainly gonna be integrated with Apple Watch.
That would be very nice, but I don't believe in it.

Garmin wants money, Google wants money and so does polar (who don't make billions in profits!).

Apple loves subscriptions more than anyone else.

You've had this for years with Garmin and it's free.

I think Apple has deliberately made their Apple Watch so bad in terms of sports metrics and all the sports-related things so that they can come around the corner with a nice subscription where users say: wow, that's worth it.

With Garmin it was the other way around:

They offer so much for free that the majority don't want to subscribe.

Agree on both. But Apple shouldn’t be charging anything since it’s almost certainly gonna be integrated with Apple Watch.

Apple used to only charge for hardware but they’re slowing charging for software services too.

Software is Apple’s weakest link. iCloud still has a ton of bugs a decade after launch. As do iOS features like Screen Time, which is almost unusable

Apple charged for software before it was free.

Could be good addition to AppleOne, but Apple needs to improve its Apple Watch heart monitor sensors. Additionally, a blood pressure monitor would be huge. Apple should also release a new Beddit device and partner with a continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) company.

Advanced active glucose monitoring in the app with alerts on when (and what) to eat would be a game changer for health nuts and athletes.

If you're charging a monthly fee for health advice it needs to be given by licensed medical practitioners who you can chat with. Nobody is going to pay for automated AI commentary especially when you're way behind in AI and other models offer it for free.

I guess the only way to get innovation going again is to turn all the stock apps into "plus" apps.
Looking forward to Home+.
Phone+/Contacts+, where you can completely blacklist non-contacts
Messages+ turns all bubbles blue, even the icon
Settings+ now you can finally customize more things
AppStore+ and AppStore+ with no ads, two tiers!
Translate+ includes Mexican Spanish
Compass+ adds the compass features from Apple Watch to the iPhone (seriously why hasn’t this been done)
Clock+ increase new alarm and timer limits from two to unlimited

So the same model as almost any doctor, nurse, or scientist ever.
Not based in a country with a public health service?

Of course medical professions need to be paid for the work, but the comparison breaks down when medical costs are paid by a country’s tam payers collectively rather than directly by the patient in a service-provider-> client model.

I wasn’t aware that none of those people took a salary to work. Here I thought taxes were collected and paid wages to them, but since it’s all voluntary and between shifts they line up at the soup kitchen for meals I stand corrected.

I’d love to know if the person who heads up Apple Fitness has actual experience in the industry or is an executive with management skills. Ideally they have both.

Less snark, more reading of the whole comment please.
