Apple today introduced a new mini website that's dedicated to the Wallet app on the iPhone, highlighting the benefits and features that are available.

Apple explains that debit and credit cards can be added to the Wallet app "with no added effort," making them available for Apple Pay. The site also promotes Apple Cash and Apple Card, both Wallet app features, as well as transit cards that can be added to Wallet.

The Wallet app also supports airline boarding passes, loyalty cards, movie tickets, student IDs, and car keys (BMW only), plus content added to iPhone is mirrored on Apple Watch.
The Wallet app lives right on your iPhone. It's where you securely keep your credit and debit cards, transit cards, boarding passes, tickets, car keys, and more -- all in one place. And it all works with iPhone or Apple Watch, so you can take less with you but always bring more.
The Wallet webpage was first noticed by 9to5Mac, and it comes right alongside redesigned Apple Pay and Apple Cash sites that highlight the benefits of the two payment features, which include ease of use, security, privacy, and wide acceptance in the U.S.
Apple Pay is the one way to pay. It replaces your physical cards and cash with an easier, safer, more secure, and private payment method -- whether you're in a store, online, or sending cash to friends or family. It's money, made modern.

Apple Cash works a lot like a debit card. Make secure, contactless purchases -- both in stores and online. Send and receive money with just a text. Share funds with your kids on their own Apple Cash card. No matter how you use Apple Cash, you get simplicity and safety you can put money on.
All of the new pages include Wallet and Apple Pay FAQs and options to "Add a card" to the Wallet on iPhone or iPad or the Wallet section of the System Preferences on Mac.

I always thought that Apple Pay was Apple Pay regardless of how you used it, but apparently not. Tried to buy something the other day with my Apple Pay Cash balance and the merchant wouldn’t let me. Told me they only support Apple Pay using cards

Just last night I discovered I could add my Allstate car insurance card to Apple Wallet. Neat!

I've also got my Sam's Club membership card in there... and a couple store loyalty cards.

And I absolutely love how my Lowe's Hardware card automatically pops up when I enter the store. And of course I use it for boarding passes and Apple Pay.

I'm pretty impressed with the Wallet app.

:)

Not sure I really want the wallet's components being opened to web page access & attacks now - feels less secure, than App only access, for some reason.

it's a Discover debit card - maybe it's because that place does not accept Discover?

I’ve has this happen too awhile back

You do realize that this page is purely marketing? Your Apple Wallet is not available on the web

They probably don’t accept Discover contactless., which is what Apple Cash is. Apple Card is a MasterCard.

I’ve been meaning to look further into Apple Cash. Thanks for the info it is just a Discover debit card. I need to get this setup for my special needs daughter since we have an issue with her bank account right now.

" with no added effort" you say?
Well, that's true -- until you want to change your address. At which point prepare for never-ending misery...

What you will discover (how is this even POSSIBLE???) that if you change your credit card billing address on iPhone, it will NOT change the billing address for Mac. But it will change something on the mac so that whenever you try to click "Edit billing address" you get routed to a page asking you to provide a new credit card. Which seems to be the only solution, once Apple has screwed you in this way -- delete all traces of your old card with its old billing address, and start all over again...

NY state has the Excelsior Pass vaccination digital card that‘s made for Wallet. Added it as soon as I was fully vaxxed.
Los Angeles has something similar (in theory) but the way it's being rolled out is fairly kack-handed, involving a partnership with a company called Healthvana, all sorts of restrictions on "did you get your vaccination at this type of place", "do you already have a Healthvana account" etc.

Presumably it will become more general; meanwhile if "Healthvana" means anything to you, you could look into that option right now.

Add drivers license and student id and I would be very happy.
I have that with the state government app which also includes all motor vehicle details, other licences (whether its trade licences or gun licences etc) plus covid-19 checkin.

I wouldn’t want to over complicate what should be a simplified app for cards and single use tickets

Ug, so to add loyalty cards you need to download that retailers app so they can spy on you, grrrrrrrrr. I was expecting that retailers would just allow a graphic representation of the card with your name and membership number displayed.
