Apple has often used CES as an opportunity to promote the company's commitment to privacy, and this year is no different, with Apple releasing two short privacy-focused ads that highlight how Face ID data and Apple Pay purchase history is not shared with Apple.

In 2019, Apple put up a large privacy-focused billboard near the Las Vegas Convention Center, where CES usually takes place. And at CES 2020, Apple's privacy chief Jane Horvath defended Apple's use of encryption to protect user data.

A third ad from Apple highlights how the company recycles some iPhone aluminum for use in Apple Watch aluminium casings.

The ads have appeared on Apple's YouTube channel in the UK and some other European countries, and will likely be shared in other regions soon.

Will be interesting to see the value of the behavioral component Apple's ad placement tech now that FBook has been knee-capped. No ad buyer cares about your physiognomy so it stays on your phone.

A shocking amount of people don't realize that data like FaceID and iMessages can't be accessed by Apple, or don't believe Apple even though this has been proven in court.

Their privacy is so good I can't even get into my Apple ID, because I can't remember the phone number associated with the ID. I don't even own a working phone on my person or at home. All of my Macs and iPads are slowly dying. Can't update anything. I guess I could associate with some terrorists, then they would probably unlock my account...

Now why can I not get them to refrain from forcing me to use a 3rd part email address for my legacy iTunes account?

We take privacy seriously, but your account can only be upgraded to a GMAIL or Yahoo or whatever email you so choose (likely will cost money or be the previous two which aggregate user data). Their stance is sort of contradictory.

Sounds like an operational and setup issue related the use and deployment of your equipment.

Gee, I hope nobody figures out I have a funky shaped nose! :p

The biometric data from Face ID and Touch ID have always been stored on the device and not accessible elsewhere.

The Intel thing last week was creepy as it seems to have stored the info so it was accessable.

I don't want my biometric info in the cloud. I simply don't trust Apple, Amazon, FB, Google, ETC to keep their promises.

This isn’t fully true. In many cases, Apple can access iMessages.

If you use iCloud Backup and don’t use Messages in iCloud, your messages are backed up in clear text. If you use iCloud Backup and do use Messages in iCloud, the messages database is end-to-end encrypted — but the key to decrypt it is included in the iCloud backup.

This is not true. I use my own domain / email. Not a gmail, yahoo ect. They do not force you to use any set of companies.

This is by far the strangest post I have ever read. Keep up the good work

Wow, snippy much? I know its "coming soon" hence my reference to it being "promised". I was simply expressing my desire to have it sooner than later as we shouldn't have had to wait for it at all. Have a nice day!
Wow I can understand this much better than your first post. As they say, should have lead with that

Privacy, except that they can get into iCloud backups and hence nearly everything if you use iCloud backups which a lot of people do. It has been year since Apple caved on encrypting it.

I've never heard of the issue that you are describing, but if it's just a matter of using an alternate email address, you have an infinite number of options.
  1. Many email providers, including iCloud, support the +tag format for email address. So if you have eggs@icloud.com, you could use eggs+bacon@icloud.com as an alternate address to the same account. Just add +something. Your emails are still delivered while appearing to be a different address.
  2. There are email providers with a strong privacy focus, such as Runbox out of Norway. Super cheap.

The "we shouldn't have to wait for it" part is what speaks to me. That's the definition of ent******. You'll get it when it's ready to be released to the millions of users around the world. Rushing features out is what everyone loves to complain about, so let's not complain when they take the time to get it right, too.

Here's a chalk slate for you to keep your notes on.

Seriously, you chose to get rid of your phone, so you can't complain when Apple expects you to have it as part of their security measures. That security is to protect you.

As for not remembering your phone number, contact someone that used to contact you. They probably still have your number in their Contacts list.
