The "we shouldn't have to wait for it" part is what speaks to me. That's the definition of ent******. You'll get it when it's ready to be released to the millions of users around the world. Rushing features out is what everyone loves to complain about, so let's not complain when they take the time to get it right, too.

Excuse me but entitlement has nothing to do with it, Apple has it ready, told us we would get it with iOS 14 then temporarily delayed it in order to let Facebook and other ad revenue model developers better prepare (which is code for find ways around). In other words big $$ got involved and unfortunately Apple caved, that is why I said we shouldn't have had to wait for it.

So climb down off your high horse and maybe educate yourself before you speak. The delay had nothing to do with getting it right or rushing features and everything to do with interrupting a revenue stream that developers don't want touched regardless of user privacy.

So I was right in my initial assessment. You were looking for a reason to complain. And Apple didn't cave

Here's a chalk slate for you to keep your notes on.

Seriously, you chose to get rid of your phone, so you can't complain when Apple expects you to have it as part of their security measures. That security is to protect you.

As for not remembering your phone number, contact someone that used to contact you. They probably still have your number in their Contacts list.
So when will iMessage be available to android users? I hate texting thru Facebook messenger
when they buy an iPhone

Well, aren't you just a little ray of sunshine! Yes, if you must label it so I guess I am "complaining" that we do not yet have the tracking prompt. Apple announced it for release with iOS 14, then delayed it at the behest of Facebook and other developers that do not want their precious revenue stream interrupted, regardless of how that impacts privacy.

I call that Apple "caving" to Facebook, even if only temporarily, but we can agree to disagree. You don't seem to have a competing opinion or facts though, you only seem to want to label my post.

& still Siri requests need an internet connection to operate, seriously WTF?

This week my internet connection dropped, the internal WiFi connection was ok as the router was still powered on.

I asked Siri to turn off lights which didn't work, the hue app continued to work fine manually.

Apple's original reason for dropping local voice commands was the processor in the iPhone wasn't powerful enough and the customer experience would suffer.

Now we have these beasts of chips in the iPads / iPhones what's the excuse now, progress I think not?

If devs can sneak a GBA emulator into the app store, chances are good they can sneak in apps that ignore privacy rules.

This isn’t fully true. In many cases, Apple can access iMessages.

If you use iCloud Backup and don’t use Messages in iCloud, your messages are backed up in clear text. If you use iCloud Backup and do use Messages in iCloud, the messages database is end-to-end encrypted — but the key to decrypt it is included in the iCloud backup.
o.o I've always just kind of assumed that iCloud Backup is a security nightmare that should be avoided. I guess that is sadly true then.

This is sad but...I like the 15s ads, in this day and age thats all there is you need to complete the advertisement. 1-2min are too long.

Why would it be? iMessage is one of the "tentpole" features of iOS.

more importantly this isn’t the same era as BBM was back in the day.

there is just so many other messaging platforms to use across iOS and Android, what’s the point in offering to Android?

will it bring over users to iPhone iPad or macs?
will it generate revenue?
how complex to support such a disparate user group across too many versions of an OS on Android?

There is no real win by making it available to Android at this present time.

I've never heard of the issue that you are describing, but if it's just a matter of using an alternate email address, you have an infinite number of options.
  1. Many email providers, including iCloud, support the +tag format for email address. So if you have eggs@icloud.com, you could use eggs+bacon@icloud.com as an alternate address to the same account. Just add +something. Your emails are still delivered while appearing to be a different address.
  2. There are email providers with a strong privacy focus, such as Runbox out of Norway. Super cheap.

Oh my god! Runbox! If I recall correctly this mailbox has been around since 1999 and Ericsson staffed used it for testing on their feature phones.

it was the first mailbox I ever owned which was free. I thought they went belly up?
