To all the “gasping at the price” people:

The original Apple released in 1976 was priced at $666.66 which today is equivalent to $3,581.63.

The original Mac debuted in 1984 for $2,495. Today that would be $7,340.

The price will not determine if the product is a failure. The price is fine.

interesting, earlier in the year when I was skeptical about this the reaction from people here was: Apple will do this right, it's like when the iPhone was introduced ... fast forward a few months and almost everyone here complains about the price ...

What they're not telling you here is that the first thing a newly powered on Vision Pro headset shows you is what it costs a consumer to buy it.

You need to take into account competing products also. Dropping $5k in today's money on a PC in 1980 was considered normal.

I have no doubt that the initial reaction is of "wonder", but it still looks extremely dorky to wear.
I highly doubt AVP can get the same iconic status as an iPhone.
Time does strange things. I'm old enough to remember my parents commenting on how ridiculous people looked that carried a cellphone... ("watch them go their with their phone, what do they need a phone for in the street, it's just for attention or boasting"). a couple of decades later and she has her phone with her everywhere. Time changes mores.
