Apple introduced new content in its Fitness+ subscription service this week, including a new menopause-focused workout program.

Fitness+ gains "Strong Through Menopause," a progressive three-week program featuring weekly Yoga and Strength workouts designed to help users navigating perimenopause and menopause build strength, improve balance and mobility, and reduce stress. A new episode of Time to Walk also features actor Busy Philipps, who shares stories from her life including her own experience with perimenopause.

The program complements perimenopause and menopause tracking support introduced in Cycle Tracking with watchOS 27 and iOS 27.

iOS 27 also brings several broader updates to the Health and Fitness apps. Users can now sort by completed Fitness+ workouts, route maps in the Fitness app are said to be more accurate following workouts, and step count is now synced between the Health and Fitness apps.

Good to see Apple expanding support for menopause and perimenopause (it was already great to see Apple add to features elsewhere in the lineup, as mentioned in the article). More recognition/acknowledgment and support is a good thing.

What is even fitness plus useful for? GO OUTSIDE AND DO SPORTS !!! It can be with bike, walk, swim or anything !!
Not an option for some people, and others need structured programs with specific goals to keep them on track. Fitness+ is a lot less costly than memberships and personal trainers too.

I am a fan of fitness plus but I wish they would create longer than 3 week programs.
That's a good point. A lot of fitness programs are that way though - I suspect if they were longer, people would be hesitant to start them, and after about three weeks, if you've been doing a program, it becomes habit and you might be able to carry on with the regular sessions/tracking.

Forget bodybuilding and there are other ways to make sports, in worst cases there is YouTube but I don't think many people cannot walk or run outside...

Spoken like someone who hasn't experienced it (I may be wrong).

Assuming you're sincere...

Ex-couch-potato here. What's it good for? I can't count the ways but :

- the Fitness+ workout on the TV and iPad all have levels for beginners in addition to "standard" and "hard" - depending on your existing fitness level. This helps avoid the "defeated before you start" feeling that so many people get with January Gym Memberships.

- A LOT of things outdoors can be tracked. If you don't find something specific when you're about to do something with a level of exertion, choose "Other" (I do that for mowing the lawn) or, another example is "Snow Sports" when I'm clearing the driveway.

- "Watch buddies" - a little something to help motivate you. My cousin and aunt are linked in with me. When I see doing workouts it's another bit of an inspiration to get off my ass.

- Gamification. This works. Badges, streaks, special events, etc. Yo can customize your rings if you're just getting started to something lower - and raise the bar higher as you get better.

- Insight. You can track your workouts. Personally, I run (never thought I would EVER do that). I can track how far I've run - what pace I've done - and track the trends. While I'm out on a trail, I can see what my 'rolling mile' pace has been in addition to my average pace - which will tell me if I'm slowing down or speeding up. It'll track my miles. Heck, it'll even give me a map of where I ran color coded to how my pace was along the way. And it covers treadmills as well - and is best with a GymKit-compatible treadmill. Also, you can import your workouts to other fitness programs. Personally, I used Runkeeper which is better at showing trends over different period of time and tracking (in my case) distances. I can compare 2025 to any other year (I've been running for 10 years now).

The Apple Watch and Fitness+ have probably been the single-most important/enabling thing in getting my health to a place it's never been. I'm *acing* blood tests and other metrics in my annual checkups and my kids are thrilled at the concept of my not dying prematurely of some disease or syndrome associated with obesity or a sedentary lifestyle.

THAT is what it is useful for.

Ok so I think you merge two different things, Apple Watch and fitness+... First I'm just talking for fitness+, I'm not talking about the watch... I personally use the Apple Watch to track my sports data (a bit for fun but yeah)

Now let's talk about fitness+, first I've never experienced "defeated before you start"... No idea what this is... During the year I do skiing (winter), doing bike (summer) and hiking... So even if you could get trainers, you can still get badges and track everything all without fitness+

I really enjoy Apple Fitness. It's great for people who work in an office all day, and have small bits of time to be healthy. It's obviously made with a lot of care and love.

The only semi-negative is how woke it is, overall. It's tiring.
Whatever “woke” actually is, I’d probably be considered low-key woke by many. But I might agree with you.

My criticism there would be that the inclusiveness vibe feels excessively performative, zero subtlety. And they are just tooooo happy, like in a very fake way. Happiness is good, I’m a fan, but there’s a line where it crosses into annoying; and it’s consistent here.

Also, how do they not have a category for mobility workouts yet? They’re so far behind.

The production values and workouts, though, are quite good IMO.

yeah, and why bother with school? Just go to the library and read books. And why go to restaurants, just go home and cook. We have people help others in all sorts of ways. For those looking for guidance to do something in a way that might not be as clear. I use Apple Fitness with my rowing machine. This gives you routines that differ in various ways with each work out. They train in different ways that keep it engaging. I could just hop on my rower and go all out for X amount of time and get a workout or I could intervals and work out smarter and more efficiently.

Always funny to watch people upset about something they don't have to use. Toss it in a folder and hide it away if you don't use it. It is not that complicated.
