So the fund is for both AIDS and COVID-19 now? I wonder how the proceeds are divided up.

Hate to be the skeptical one but last quarter alone Apple made just over $20bn in profit. And through probably their biggest charitable partnership they’ve given away $0.25bn over the past 16 years. That’s just a fraction of the last quarter, let alone the past 16 years
Yes?

I think Apple's given Tim Cook more than that during that time. Charity starts at home? 🤷‍♂️

Would anyone else love to see a product (RED) Apple Watch Ultra? For me, it would be a "shut up and take my money" situation with a red band and red accents instead of orange...

Aren’t more many people impacting by heart disease than AIDS now? I thought AIDS was largely under control
AIDS still doesn’t have a cure. It’s great there are effective treatments but research is still ongoing and there’s no prevention yet. People are still dying from AIDS and treatments are still not as globally accessible as they need to be yet.

I like that it is raising money for a good cause, but red is also often the best colour choice because it is so bold. I wish there were some other bold colour choices, maybe also raising money for charities.
Definitely need brighter Pro Colors. You would think they would at least want PR becuase Pros cost more and sell more, so more money for the cause

If a person has AIDS, they have a good chance of living a normal lifespan, if they are on the drugs for life. It's not over. In the developing world, it's not close to over.
At Oxford Uni in the UK, they're currently running a clinical trial for an HIV Vaccine.
I am very skeptical about this. The virus mutates so quickly, your own immune system can't keep up with it from day to day. How could a vaccine adapt that can only be updated every few years? I suspect the best humanity can hope for is a drug that makes you resistant to infection as long as you take it.

I also doubt there will ever be a forever cure for the virus. Because it's a retrovirus, your own cells can reinfect you years after you thought you were clear. The virus becomes part of your own DNA.

I just hate that the Red color is not consistent. Some of the shades in the past have looked almost maroon. The iPhone 14 has a nice vibrant Red though.

Apple should also order Product Red Apple Watch Ultra and Product Red MacBook Pro 14" & 16" model. What's the hold up?
Just a guess, but I think the Product Red stuff from Apple gives a certain % to AIDS charities, so Apple doesn’t want to do that with more than 1 inexpensive product at a time… All those accountants at Apple are pinching every penny these days. Who can blame them? The supply chain is still ******! 🙁

Got the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 13 mini and PRODUCT(RED) Apple Watch. Keep them coming its is my favorite color anyway.

Bono is getting on in years, so maybe heart disease will be his new cause soon.

In any case, while it certainly was a worthy cause, the real reason why there is a Product Red for aids and not something else is because 1. Celebrities used to love to go on about fighting aids, and 2. Steve Jobs knew how to leverage celebrity for both marketing and a good cause.

There would never have been a product red under Tim Cook without Jobs, because he’d crunch the numbers and the margins just wouldn’t be there. Also, irony.

Instead of irony, I’d suggest cynical. AIDS is still a huge problem in the world, even in the USA aging on HIV meds (daily chemotherapy) is brutal. People reaching 50 years old have problems of people that are 70 or 80. It’s not gone away, it’s just disappeared from people’s radar. Over 40 Million dead and almost that ”living” with HIV/AIDS, and in much of the world still dying from it. No one really cares these days as it’s not “their” problem. 🎭

♥️ that Apple are still supporting PRODUCT (RED) after such a while.

Would be great to see them make a splash adding new products to the ()RED range – such as AirTag, braided cables, Magic Keyboard, Apple Pencil – and finally offer iPhone Pro in this charitable colourway.
