True! The time when Apple release Apple Car and won't sell 10millions in the first week and every iPhone owners did not own Apple Car! Tim must go!

Yes, because Apple Watch numbers are so "off the charts",
they don't quote exact figures like they do for every other product.

They said they wouldn't post numbers 9 months before launch. Time you change your disk, it's skipping.

During the earning call he said all growth in the other category was because of the Apple watch (1.776B (that would give about 4.5M watches), considering both the AppleTV and the Ipod had heavily falling sales prior to refresh (apple tv prices were even slashed), the number is certainly much higher than that. It has been estimated at around 7M.

Why is that plausible?
During the first earning calls 3 month earlier, he said it sold faster than the Ipad up to that point; considering the number of Ipad sold at that point is known and around 3.2M, that was a pretty good indication that it's significantly more than that once actual presence in store began.

Why believe him? Because he can be held personally liable for what he says in those earning calls, unlike all the two bit commentator all over the internet.

Considering the watch has now a much wider distribution both in outlet and in countries, the chance that it has reached 7M already is damn pretty good.

Again, what you sheep mesmerized by Cook always seem to overllok is that
Apple is where it is based on the granite iFoundation laid down by Steve.
Cook has ZERO to do with Apple's current success. ZERO.
And you know precisely what I mean: he has zero creatively to do with it.
So don't quote me his supply-side genius: you know perfectly well that's not what I mean.
If Apple were a company based solely on Cook's creative actions, they'd be a non-entity.

First a watch, then a stylus, now possibly a car.
Why does it feel like Apple's out of ideas,
and now all that's left is to pick away at Jobs' dismissed thoughts from the waning years of his life?

Why does it feel like that?
Because that's exactly what they're doing.

The bean counter can't innovate.
He can't present a Keynote that isn't a snoozefest.

All he does is repeat the same old tired, repetitive buzzwords.
Like I say: it's as if the accountant took over for Willy Wonka.

All he does is keep profits up (at least for now...
When these bad ideas begin to pile up, who knows) ....

Yep, like I also said: Cook's running on Steve's fumes.
And when the fumes finally dry up & it's time to fill the tank again ....

Tl;dr.

So, sell 12-15M the first year and crush the competition in profit,, and revenue... Well guess so...
Even if they sold 1/10 that they'd still be the size of Mercedes...

yeah.... That would be awful sales numbers given the average AW is not 1/10 of a merc price .

Merc sold 1.75M cars in 2014. Far more impressive than 12-15 iPhone accessories.

Since Apple can't invent anything anymore, they dig up this old project that Steve rejected. They'll add a few bells and whistles and call their version of a 100+ year old product "new" and "innovative!"

I guess Steve couldn't find the right type of person to replace him, so he left the company in the hands of a bean-counter who'd make sure the ship went down S-L-O-W-L-Y.

isn't apple the most profitable it's ever been???

Hmm...I must have missed those MacBook numbers. And the new TV 4 numbers.

^^ I'm with this guy. FIRE TIM!!!

When these bad ideas begin to pile up, who knows) and that's NOT why I'm an Apple fan. I want great products, not three laptops each with their own built-in achilles heel and desktops held together with tape and glue like a Kindergarteners after-lunch project. I want products that are useful, not iPads that are crippled by a weak mobile operating system and watches that can barely do anything my phone can't do better.

... But I do admit I anxiously await the first time this car goes off a cliff using Apple Maps as a guide. Poetic justice.

You forgot the /s tag.

You do really need them. It's an Irish name and with out them you couldn't pronounce his name right.. The fadas (accents) change the letters sound

I feel that I am finally getting in touch with my Irish roots. (I am 1/4 Irish) Wikipedia say 70,000 people speak Irish. Well I'm going to make that 70,001. Starting tomorrow, or the day after that at the latest.

Funny given Steverino's abhorrence of license plates. If I recall correctly from the Walter Isaacson book he used a loophole in CA motor vehicle laws to drive without license plates.

Haha, so this car is really happening. I can't wait to see what Apple does. I'll wait on the $35K (Aka Tesla 3 version) version in 2025ish, though. Lol. They will probably start around $80K or more.

iCar Mini, iCar Air, and iCar Pro.

"To ... create ... this product, we asked ourselves: what do consumers most want from a car? The answer, of course, is not more power, or better battery life, but a biblically unreliable car. The user will ... sympathetically press each pedal and every knob, enjoying not only the feel, but the experience, of driving. It's unapologetically lacking in power.

"We, at Apple, feel that life sometimes moves too ... quickly. By ... distilling the user experience, refining the joy of sitting in this wonderful car, drivers can once again learn to drive. To ... condense the encounter between the driver and the car, our engineers had to start from the beginning -- quite literally.

Put simply, it's the best car we've ever made."

i really feel like this forum should be renamed Apple Haters. Seems like no matter what the subject is, it has to turn into a discussion about how lame Tim Cook is, or how Apple steals, or does not innovate since SJ passed.

You'd think in a forum that focuses on rumors, stories like this would spark interesting conversation about what Apple might be able to do if they build a car. Or how it's cool that we seem to be getting more confirmation that a car project seems to be real. But not. Instead I see debate about Apple Watch numbers and other silly statements that have nothing to do with a car.

It's becoming more and more difficult for Apple to keep their secrets secret! With the likes of LinkedIn and the internet in general it's relatively easy to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

I'm wondering if they'll ever come a time when people will know what Apple (or any other company) is going to do before they even know! :D

I never understood why Apple can't just make it a condition of employment that they can't update their social media profiles for x number of months or so. Either that, or that they need to clear out their past social media profiles?

Actually, now that I type that, seems sort of overbearing!

When Apple hired me, I didn't see articles proclaiming that Apple was getting into the computer forensics business. Funny how the assumption is that people are hired to do exactly what they did previously, rather than the far more normal way of hiring in which people are hired for a skill that can be applicable to many different things.

The Apple Car will have Apple Watch-level success.

#TimMustGO

You mean the success of the Apple Watch becoming the most successful smartwatch on the planet and outselling every other smartwatch maker combined?

Sure sounds like a failure.

Since its official launch on April 24, the Apple Watch has snagged a sizable lead with total worldwide shipments of almost 7 million units, research firm Canalys said Wednesday. That figure, covering just two quarters, was higher than the shipments of all other vendors combined over the previous five quarters, Canalys said.

Reviver has produced Slate, a product dubbed "The World's First Digital License Plate." The Slate is a connected plate that's able to do things like monitor vehicle location and maintenance records and digitally send payments for tolls and parking fees. It also alleviates the need for physical stickers and manual registration processes.

It kinda amazes me how many road technologies are invented that only work in California.

Driverless cars, solar roads, digital license plates.... all technologies that will be useless in snow, mud and rain.
