Let's make Siri more useful first
Some people like that. My mom cracks up every time Siri says something that isn't a command. Idk why... it's not really funny but whatever. I personally use siri all the time when I take naps or am baking something. Occasionally ask it math when I'm too lazy to type a few numbers. and other misc. things.

There you go. I just compared British English to American English.
An amusing little read on further differences: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/14/opinion/14iht-edtharoor.html
Funny! Have you seen this one ?

In Portugal the Brazilian immigrants are a bit like the Mexican immigrants in the US, usually very low income, extremely undereducated people that come to Lisbon (the capital of Portugal) to work in mcdonalds and jobs like that.
I am a Portuguese student in Economics living in Lisbon until I finish my degree than off to London for my master's and to work in investment baking or venture capital, and I can tell you if Brazilian Portuguese becomes an option for Siri but not actual Portuguese than I'll just keep using British English as usual. I do not want to listen to Siri speak Brazilian.
Pardon any mistakes, it's 3 am in GMT time and I'm lying in bed typing on my iPhone and about to go to sleep. Good night![]()
I was disgusted to read your comment.
The next time you speak about Brazilians, try to show a little more respect. Portugal is a small microbe near Brazil, in economic and cultural terms. Instead of speaking of Brazilians immigrant, I will speak about Portuguese immigrants in Brazil, they were largely: castaways, convicts, rapists, criminals... I think the quality of Brazilian immigrants who made the reverse trip is much better.
The Portuguese from Portugal looks the sound of a horse neighing, I do not want to hear it neither.
Sir, you can feel disgusted all you want, that's your perrogative. It doesn't make my comment any less of a statistical fact. Statistically speaking the large majority by far of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal are low income, extremely uneducated people that come to work on jobs that require nothing but a work visa and pay the very minimum wage. In fact the reasons they choose to come to Portugal are very simple: they understand the language and the minimum wage they earn here allows them to have far better living conditions than the one's they would have in Brazil, even send some money back home to relatives living in one of Brazil's slums or starving.
And yes Brazil is big... Your point being? "Mine is bigger than yours"? Yes, Brazilian slums surrounding Brazil's main urban centers alone have a larger population than Portugal. Yes, Brazil is a big country, bigger than any European country, I believe. Is also considered by the IMF, UN, and many others to be a developing country! Which basically means that it lacks things that in developed countries are considered common place, and that the meme "1st world problems" doesn't really affect it's population, aren't you guys lucky...
If I cared even the slightest about your opinion I should be the one offended, because where I merely stated general statistical facts about a small segment of the Brazillian population (those that move to Portugal) that were in no way an insult to Brazil or Brazillians, you felt the need to try to insult a country and say that it's population sounds like horses... How old are you? The reason I do not wish to have my iPhone speaking Brazilian is probably similar to why an American would not want a Scottish Siri, or a English man would probably find it odd to listen to a Texan speak every time he asked his iPhone "do I need an umbrella?" (It's just a joke, I love, I really do, the British weather, especially when I'm melting under the Portuguese summer that seams to last more than half the year, it might be fun when taking an swim while on vacation, not so fun when doing your everyday life).
And tell me, if Brazil is such a cultural beacon of the modern world why on earth do Brazillian students from more well of families come to Portugal's average or even worst universities and treat them like Harvards or Oxfords when compared to the one's they had in Brazil?
I probably could argue more in favor of Brazil's economical development in the last few years than you, as you seem incapable of rational arguments, I guess the brazilian stereotype of irrationally dumb people (oh sorry I mean "extremely passionate and emotional") is alive and well. Even feeling "disgusted" with simple facts, I guess Wikipedia also disgusts you, or the UN reports on world development. Defensive much?
I consider my self European first, Portuguese second, the reason I commented on the subject was merely because I feel that since I'm a fluent Portuguese speaker and familiar with Brazilian Portuguese I could give some information about the differences between the two, since as I said before, those differences are more than an accent and a few spelling differences.
Why don't you go ahead and feel disgusted again? Have fun. I will not engage you further, or even bother to read you "disgusted" reply.
Post Script: You're welcome for all the money that Portuguese (or as you call them, rapists and criminals) and other European and Western business men have invested in Brazil that is helping the country to play catch up and be able to do more than "samba" the night way and wait for the problems to fix themselves.
"You don't know nothing Jon Snow"
My intention was not to offend anyone, but if you had received a good education would know that Portuguese immigrants who came to Brazil were nearly all bandits. Against facts there are no arguments.
Statistics from whom? In the past Brazilians dentists were prohibited to come into Portugal, because they were better prepared than the portuguese natives.
Brazil is larger than Portugal in every sense, not just size, study more. To get an idea: the rich Brazilian population is larger than the entire Portuguese population. You are with a jealousy of centuries, because of the fact Rio de Janeiro was chosen to be the capital of the Portuguese Overseas Empire in place of Lisbon ...
If you had not cared about my opinion I think you would not had written this bible of nonsense that you wrote. What about my age in this discussion? I'm certainly older than you, and despite the supposed inferiority of my country I know more history of Portugal than you do.
Friend, you seem to know very little history and geography, I wonder what investment bank hires a dumb like you. You talked about Brazilian universities, people here look for outside courses for many reasons, one of which is: because it is easier to be admitted. The Federals Brazilians universities are very tought.
If at least you were able to argue something. I think I'm not the only person here emotional and passionate.
Glad you considered yourself first an European, by the way, Portugal is a heavy backpack to Europe, a true piano, a carrier, an anchor. Besides wine Portugal produces anything else?
You are very innocent, "there is no free lunch" my dear, if anyone invests here in Brazil the reason is simple, it will have double the money back, triple... I am proud of our samba and many other things, and Portugal, has what? Pastel de Belém?
Brazil has done more to Portugal and Western Countries than you know. However, unfortunately this is way above your knowledge, spent more time on books.
Despite having to read such idiocy of an overbearing like you I'm proud of my Portuguese roots, can not say the same for many other Brazilians who feel ashamed of having been "colonized" by Portugal, common sense here is that if we had been colony of Britain we would be much better.
About Siri in Portuguese, the differences are really huge, but I think given the strategic importance of Brazil, (even if you do not accept is the truth) Brazilian Portuguese should have priority.
Again I apologize if I offended you, it was not my intention. I didn't even compare the portuguese hairy woman with the Brazilian Goddesses to begin with, among a lot of other things.
PS: Yes, size matters, at least sometimes... If you heard something else it was a lie, probably to preserve your pride of what you have...
I apologise to other forum members that have suffered reading thru these completely out of topic comments in which I participated.
Let's go back to discussing the next iPhone Apple will be having us buy in the fall, shall we?This one sounds like it will be especially hard to resist, I love it when they change the designs, and my Siri agrees
