Apple Hit With $2.7 Billion Lawsuit Over App Tracking Rules

Another lawsuit? Everyone wants slice of Apple pie, I guess.

The thing is that many of the people celebrating this will then be complaining about higher prices. Apple doesn't pay these fines, people do: shareholders (IRAs, 401ks, individual owners) through lower returns, customers through higher prices, and employees through lower salaries. They just export these costs around the world so "someone else" is paying some of it. When many places do it, the "someone else" is all of us. It might "only" be a few dollars per phone for this, but it adds up.

People may be vise to keep their Apple devices longer, at least as long as Apple makes quality devices.
If shareholders complain... 😂

We received 95% of private customers’ information such as locations, buying habits, etc. that we needed for targeting ads from Androids and its phones; iPhones and Apple provided very little to work with and we had to use some third party (expensive) data.

A company loses its core ethics when they get in bed with cookies, tracking, etc.

Apple's secure garden is only as secure as Apple can convince its users it is.

I was not talking about tracking in advertisement specifically. I am grateful for the shielding iOS provides and that is a main selling point of the iPhone I believe.

Like the need to replace a whole motherboard with the cpu, ram, ssd, GPU for just a broken part.

This is more the result of miniaturization and component consolidation than abuse. If you have the skill, you can replace individual components on the motherboard. This is what Apple does when they refurbish a part.

I remember the "fun times"🙄 doing component level repairs in Apple's 15" CRT that had issues with the red/green signal component. Hey, make the only single guy in the shop work on the high voltage machines.⚡🤯⚡ He doesn't have a wife and kids to weep at his funeral.😶

You're missing the point. Apple is quick to point fingers at others while imposing strict policies. While they don't enforce such practices for their own business. They figure, even if they catch a lawsuit and pay a fine, they will still net more money after said suit, all due to being first and playing unfairly, until they get caught. A typical strategic move from Apple ever since AntennaeGate.

Well Apple apps don’t track users, so yeah, those that do track users will feel like something’s not fair when restrictions fall upon them.

Why are these governments so eager to bring down Apple? What do they want, Android only? Then they'll just complain about the lack of competition with Google and sue them to oblivion, leaving us all with dumb phones again. It makes no sense. Accountability is important, but at what cost?

They just have to pretend to care about whatever issue they can lie about in order to (a) squeeze Apple for more money and/or (b) pressure Apple into no longer blocking their intrusions into all of our privacy. They don't want Apple not to exist, but they'd love it if Apple acted just like the other big tech firms who are all too happy to cooperate with their panopticon schemes.

Another legal trouble for Apple and also Apple is forced to make changes due to various regulations. Waiting to see what will happen.
