The company that would create that 'tougher' display would possess the technology, not Apple. Apple would have to pay a considerable amount of 'ransom' money to keep it exclusive. In that scenario, the user would be holding the wrong end of the stick.

Yep, but like a lot of Apple roll outs, they tend to claim innovation and they invented the technology

Remember when people asked, who the hell wants an iPhone? Pepperidge Farm remembers...
Remember when people asked who the hell wants an Apple Headset?

Because it turned out the answer was nobody.

I thought I'd want it. The killer app for such a headset is obvious. Apple didn't bother making it. No killer app. No sales.

I don’t think I’m seeing any scuttlebutt about this. What’s the over/under on some form of Pencil support - at least when opened to full-size?
iPad mini + Pencil has been so game-changing for my workflow. I think I’d like to see this option on the fold.

Glad to hear this information! Hopefully it will work out and materialize. It is a superb action that Apple always ensures its products have a great quality! Excellent job!!

Who the hell wants a foldable iPhone?
You mean an unfoldable iPhone. Or, a foldable iPad. A foldable iPhone would be something like an iPhone Flip. This weird use of terminology hurts my head.

The question is not "who wants an iPhone that can magically turn into an iPad whenever you want it to". This concept is not difficult to understand. Most customers would appreciate something like that. In theory.

The real question is: is the product that is possible to make using current technology good enough to actually meet that fantasy goal? Or does it espouse so many compromises and tradeoffs to achieve the design that it is actually worse than what it builds upon? Time will tell. But if we're being honest, rumors already have.

Two scenarios: 1. It will sell like hotcakes if the price is right; 2. It will sell only to the wealthy who can afford it, making it a status symbol and thus making people want it more.
I'd say there is a third possibility, which is it sells to the same 800,000 people who buy everything Apple releases no matter what, and that's about it, and then is treated like it doesn't exist by Apple. This has been the trend for Apple's massively overpriced flops.

Another flop experiment from this **** company making 2 camera only and price like $2.5k even not face id when that feature the most useful entire product iPhone
