What's the point of Apple Tv+ going to Comic-Con and not giving us a trailer for El Gato Negro???
99.99% positive this show hasn’t even been cast or begun filming yet. We would have heard something if it was close. 0.01% chance Apple started production without anyone knowing.

Apple TV+ is still devoid of much to watch for my age group. Glad the Comic-Con people are pleased, but nobody I’ve talked to over 40 thinks TV+ has much worth watching. I only keep it because it comes with Apple One.
I'm over 40 and I love a number of shows on Apple TV+ (Ted Lasso, Severance, and Foundation in particular). You seem to have a funny definition of what "your age group" should (or ought to?) watch.

Indeed. 2008 was the last time I attended (after attending every year since 1990) because it became impossible to get a hotel room next to the Convention Center and almost every panel room was at 100% capacity so you pretty much had to pick one room to stay in each day.
I wish they did something to make it easier for people who actually live in San Diego to get tickets for San Diego Comic Con.

Apple will flop as long as it can't produce shows like The Boys, aka total freedom for creators. As it does allow in music.

Apple should buy something like Cyberpunk and use it as a label for an adult section on the service, games and video.
The biggest problem ain't quality, it's the availability only on Apple devices (mostly perceived by Android users but partly existent), and the over-saturation of the market.

Apple should publish the free-to-view episodes on neutral platforms (such as Youtube).

Severance, and For All Mankind have comparable or better RottenTomatoes scores than The Boys. Even Mythic Quest and Trying score better than The Boys’ very good score. Apple TV+ is making fine content, it’s just not the content you want.

Trust me, the under-40 content isn't that much interesting either.

My unbiased opinion is that TV+ is the least attractive streaming service out there, only about 2 or 3 good shows, lots of production value and little entertainment. All the plots also seem to be loaded with political correctness, I don't think they should go to the extreme of The Boys, that's not for everyone, but at least push the envelope a little bit.

Edit before the hate: Severance is a good show, For All Mankind is pretty good too, but they are not enough to carry an entire streaming platform. I know NO ONE, not even one person who has paid for TV+, all my friends who have it or have had it is because of the 1 year + 3-month trials available from many sources.

Sadly, many of the local residents who helped build the event are nowadays lucky if they can even get a ticket.

I hate “The Boys” … also known as Superhero Rapists. Show is extremely overrated. Apple has many good shows and movies. It’s not going to flop.

Foundation, For All Mankind, and Severance, in particular should definitely have panels at Comic Con. Excellent sci-fi, they'd fit right in. Was Apple not doing this before?
These things take a lot of work and resources to plan and execute, so I'm inclined to say "no" (I haven't been paying attention if so).

Eh... it's only $5 a month, so it's about as "free" as you can get. Granted, I know some people who are hell bent on subscriptions of any kind, and this includes subs to SS (streaming services), so not just software, etc. As for neutral, it also works on browsers and non Apple hardware. For the longest time, I though you needed Apple hardware to watch Apple TV (discussion in link below). It wasn't until I got my free trial of ATV+ that I learned I can use it with Firefox browser, on a Windows PC.

At least you guys have the option of showing up the day of the con and buying badges off the street. I hear the prices are not inflated. The rest of us driving or flying can't really do that.

"unbiased opinion" is hilariously oxymoronic.

As they say, "the plural of anecdote is not data". I know numerous people, including me, who have paid for Apple TV+.

FWIW, it's getting to the point where the majority of "smart" TVs now have an Apple TV+ app available for them.

While streaming boxes are popular, I prefer to just watch SS through my desktop PC, on a web browser. I wouldn't have wanted to muddle with them. Even for the other SS.

While I'd agree that "nobody pays for ATV+" isn't true, it doesn't seem to be that far off. I myself will jump back in for a few a month or 3 when new seasons come out (See was announced for a 3rd season. My top ones also include Foundation, The Morning Show, Central Park, and Ted Lasso). However, I'd have to wonder just how much of their subscribers are "true subscribers" in where they're paying for it while actively using it. This would exclude those who are on free trial, bumming off someone else's sub, and those who are counted as subs but don't use it simply b/c it's already part of A1.

It's not about stars on Rotten Tomatoes, it's about having no artistic borders. That attracts great people that make great movies. It is a hit and miss but it sure as hell makes for good shows on Amazon and Netflix. Even The Queen's Gambit is something we won't see on Apple TV+ with the current attitude.

Apple wants to create an air of quality but that makes everything bland, even when they curse a lot. I liked Ted Laso but can't get past 2 episodes of any other Apple TV+ show. It's like having good music but lacking a good producer.

I also think that RottenTomatoes scores are skewed as only Apple fans keep paying for Apple TV+. Mythic Quest having more stars than the Boys basically proves my point, just the Boy's music score alone is better than Mythic Quest as a whole!

Mmmm ... opinions.

Recommend me a good Apple TV+ show and I will try to sit it out with an open mind. Promise. I like SF, action, anime, thrillers, intense drama, sarcastic humor, etc

I liked The Queen's Gambit, The Alienist, Peaky Blinders (up to s4), Happy, The Boys and I even watched the first season of Space Force.

So on point man!

True, true, that's part of it.
But it's so sad (for me) that Apple has a lot of shows I would love if they would have been made by Netflix or Amazon, I'm sure of it.
I just cancelled Netflix. They seem to have devolved into data-driven shovelware. How something fits into their platform or increases subs outside of North America seems more important now that creativity and allowing interesting and creative shows to find an audience. Anything that’s really fun or interesting now is cancelled after 2 seasons and in it’s place we get yet another stupid reality show or lame standup special. Now that Ozark is done as well as Stranger Things 4 (which was a soulless slog… no fun at all… all spectacle and too many pointless subplots) I’m out.

Well, I'm outside of North America so you could have a point in my case. But I look at German, Korean, British and US series all the same, for me it's more content.

It indeed sucks that lots of good series stop at 1 or 2 seasons without a good ending, Netflix is not perfect either.

It's available on lots of devices. NVidia Shield TV, Roku, televisions, ....

Apple wants to create an air of quality but that makes everything bland,

CODA (Academy Award Best Picture) and Ted Lasson are hardly bland. Can't wait for Foundation season 2.

They are "bland" in the sense that Disney is bland. Probably not going to see many slasher features.

Disney can afford to be bland most of the time because they have several very big franchises and a huge back catalog, occasionally they have very good new series and lots of great movies.

I will try Foundation again, I really want to like this. The Foudation should be a franchise with toys, animated series, books, movies and everything, Apple is just not up to it.

Hope not. Cheapens the brand. HBO Max was the premiere video channel until AT&T fired the people who made it great. According to one source AT&T executives didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. Now it's just another streaming service. Luckily Apple TV+ came along to replace it with consistently high quality (production values) and content. Still a small library, but there are some gems in it.

It is a fine line to walk to keep te quality for sure.
Talking about HBO, series like Boardwalk Empire, Westworld or Game of Thrones wouldn’t even be possible on TV+.
