Imagine if Apple launches new MacBook Pros and gifts an extra month of Creator Studio for free to everyone who buys the new hardware. I think Apple could sell billions of new Macs with this approach.

Unless the Pro/Max chips have more neural processors to make use of those features. Then the software is also a reason to upgrade hardware.

Apples obsession lately to court these low IQ people
And do you wonder why? Look at half the comments on MacRumors, people breathless about whether they should trade in a six month old M4 so they can upgrade to a M5 for their social media doom scrolling. Oh, but what about the M6?! No, we should wait for that. And how about we hypothesize about what the benchmark scores might be for the M7?!

This is the audience that Apple’s masterful marketing dog and pony shows are laser targeted at. A money extraction machine.

Yeah, there are actual “creators” (cringe) using Apple hardware to make and build. And they’re all too busy working to worry about the glassy-eyed shopping influencers.

Maybe they'll announce the new Apple TV at the same time. Oh, never mind. That will probably be 2027.

Creatives for a new laptop? I can see touchscreen being worth bringing people in to show how easy it will be to do live tick tocking. 🤣

Why would they have the event in Los Angeles if it had anything to do with MacBooks?
Because it’s easier to move Macs to LA than it is moving the cesspool of influencers away from their hot pot of broken records and questionable dreams.

In short, the people Apple wants to use as advertisers are there.

Hoping for the 16” M5 MacBook Max, but not holding my breath. Don’t know why they are dragging their heels so much to release these.

Well, Final Cut Pro is used for making movies and what better place to watch a movie? On an Apple TV! So, fingers crossed!

To elaborate on what others have said:

Apple is now in the habit of holding mini-events for YouTubers/influencers around product launches that are significant, but don't have enough to warrant a full-on media blitz and the presentation that follows. It has done this before for introductions like the MacBook Air M4.

Why LA? Because many of the people Apple would invite already live there. iJustine (and her sister), Brian Tong, iPhonedo, Krystal Lora... no one has to cover costs or otherwise justify a long trip. Moreover, they and many people in the region are video producers and similar creative pros who value high-end hardware and editing software. Hollywood, anyone?

I'm increasingly confident that Apple will unveil M5 Pro- and M5 Max-based MacBook Pros at the event alongside the formal release of Creative Studio, and pitch them as a whole package. I wouldn't count on other introductions; my theory is that Apple will hold the MacBook Air, Mac mini, and iMac M5 updates for sometime around March.

Why would they have the event in Los Angeles if it had anything to do with MacBooks?

Considering it coincides with the Creator Studio bundle they announced and is coming out on 01/28 and the fact that Hollywood is in LA, it will be something along the lines of with this hardware and software anyone can become a Hollywood producer, etc.

Nah

No way I'm buying a first-gen product from Apple again. Got burned with the butterfly keyboard, I learned my lesson

Wait for M7 or M8. In the mean time, get the M4 Pro or M4 Max, for a discount, a machine that's been through all the trials and errors since the M1. It's plenty powerful for most people.

Name a single Apple processor in the iPhone, iPad, Watch or Mac that had a problem with a first gen version of technology (architecture, process node or anything).

I’ll wait…

I’m sure they’re going to announce hardware products.

They’ve already announced the Creator Studio bundle. I doubt FCP or Logic are receiving significant upgrades next week. Why announce Creator Studio and then a week later do a second announcement to tell us more about it?

Which makes me believe this is mostly new hardware with maybe some demos of how good Creator Studio runs on that hardware.

But he's not talking about the processor. The M6 MBP is rumored to be a whole new machine.

The person they replied to mentioned 2nm and OLED.

Besides processors, name any OLED screen in an Apple product that was so bad it required a recall to fix.

Even though the external design is similar, the internals are significantly different.

This is only about the new ai creator features. They won’t want to over shadow that with a product announcement

This makes no sense. Why announce a product once and then do another event barely a week later for the same product?

Just have a single announcement, demo the product/features and THEN tell people about the bundle/pricing at the end. The same formula Apple has followed for years.

Guess I didn't read far enough back - I only saw the butterfly keyboard mentioned. But a touchscreen display and thinner case would be plenty to give me pause. Not worried about the M6, though.
