Apple ID Account not accepting replacement CC

Not sure if this is the right forum...but..

My UK CC renewal card never arrived. HSBC cancelled it and issued a new card...with a new 16 digit number.
Trying to update my Apple account details..but the card is not accepted saying its the wrong number for this type of card (Mastercard). Apple had me re doing all info to be grammatically correct and as it appears in Royal Mails address/postcode finder! And its still rejected.

Wondering if anybody else has had similar problems and if/how they got a solution.

Don't use any dots I think it is? What's the exact error? Does it point to the issue?

Try it after an hour or so. Sometimes it can be a server issue.

Personally I just you vouchers so I never have to worry about unforeseen in app purchases.
