I have an Apple ID, say AAA@mac.com. I have two aliases, say BBB@mac.com for me and CCC@mac.com for my wife. We are effectively sharing an email address.

I am giving my wife an iPad and wish for her to have her own Apple ID. For convenience we wish that ID to be CCC@mac.com. Is there a simple way of achieving this by simultaneously abandoning CCC@mac.com as an alias of AAA@mac.com and adopting it as basic ID for my wife when setting up her new iPad or is there a danger I shall ruin everything by attempting the change? Or is there another way of achieving what is wanted?

Aliases are done under iCloud.com website.

I made one for my daughter has using the “create for a child” and hers ends in iCloud.com.

But I would try to backup using iTunes instead of a cloud log in restore. So that way MAYBE you can make the new ID and use whatever back up you want from iTunes as a iCloud is specific to that Apple ID.

I never tried this due to not being in this exact situation but I’m going based on my knowledge of the backup and restore process
