My Apple ID set up is with outlook/hotmail (as everyone knows you cant set up an account with iCloud mail....you must choose a different one)..... is there a way to change that and receive Apple emails i receive there to my basic iCloud email?

There is no way to to change this like you want. I use an outlook.com email for my AppleID and just went to outlook.com and had that email forward to my iCloud email account to it all comes the same place.

You need to call Apple Support and ask the question. No one here will be able to help you!

Not sure, but I'm wondering if your issue there is because those are essentially the same email address. xx123@me.com it the same as xx123@icloud.com. Can you try using something else that is not an alias of that address?
