Is it possible for me to delete my apple id. I would be signing up with Sprint in 2 weeks time. I want to get a new phone number. For that reason, I already created a new apple id on my mac. Is it possible for me to delete my old apple id?

I don't get why you've made another ID. Apple ID is device-independent and carrier-independent. You don't need to make a new ID each time you change your phone or use toitel paper, bro!

No you can't delete. You can just use the same Apple ID device to device.

Deletion is not possible unless you have a VERY good reason, and even then, can take three months to complete. I can't see why you'd need to delete your account for a new phone anyway....If you have security issues or are getting abusive messages that kind of thing, then talk directly to Apple support.
