Apple ID not working in iMessage

    Everytime i try to add my apple ID to iMessage on my iPhone 5 it doesn t work.

    It says incorrect password or incorrect ID.

    I m sure i use the right ID/Password as i ve changed it reset also change updated phone nr etc... all the things suggested in other forums but still no chance can t get my apple ID / email added to iMessage.

    iMessage works perfectly with phone nr. but i want to unify it with my macbook air iPad iMac etc...

    I have the exact same predicament in my iPhone 4. Any solution with this one will be greatly appreciated.

    I think its related to ios6 cause with the ios5 never had it.

    iMessage in general is just a big pain in the ass. I looked on my mom's phone and there are three separate threads from when she was talking to me because iMessage for mac and phone, ipad all seem to cause a new thread as if they're sending from different emails even though I have them all set to the same thing.

    Yes i even did a reset of the phone still not working

    Same problem here. It's infuriating. Phoned up Apple technical support who have suggested restoring the phone through iTunes which I'm not keen on doing. I suspect this may work until I try to restore my data back to the phone from iCloud. This problem also coincided with me not being able to access my home wifi network (keep getting an error message saying I'm entering the wrong password). Have had to remove security from the network in order to be able to use wifi.

    Right, for some reason, after 2 days things have started to work again. When entering my apple id, I substituted @me.com for @icloud.com in iMessage and FaceTime which did the trick.

    Can't explain it. I am also able to connect to my home wifi now. Very strange bug in ios6!!

    No luck for me it didn t work. i m getting frustrated it drives me crazy

    Still no luck, it is driving me bonkers! To make matters worse I logged out of iMessage on my iPad (never had this problem with the iPad) but now it cant log back in and I now have wrong username / password for both iPhone 5 and iPad.

    Jusr did a restore - didn't make any difference.

    I logged into myID/Apple and changed my Mobile Me ID address to the United States (im not in the US but my iPhone 5 came from US). Anyhow it now works perfect and my password was accepted.

    I think Apple have regionalised iMessage somehow

    How can i find out where my iphone 5 comes from bought it in france and my apple id is french

    I went again to the apple store and they told me it s an problem of ios6 and the iphone 5 as before it used apple id so many people where complaining that they got their messages on every device logged in and they prefered to use their phone nb. Apple corrected that bug and now by default it uses the phone number. They told me to wait basicly for the next update as the bug has been reported to apple.

    Basicly it s linked to the french itunes account as i can use my US apple id but my french itunes it wont accept it s country related with the same phone one works one not sadddddd any help please????

    i can t change the region of my french itunes account as i would loose all apple match music and icloud docs

    The same thing happened to me. Make sure that " Time and Date" are on automatic. Thats what i did with my iPod 5 and it worked!!

    After the update to 6.1 everything works like charm problem solved for me.

    I think this problem started for me after updating to 6.1. I can log into iMessaging with my account. But if I restart the device it asks for my Apple ID again and it won't accept my password. The same thing with my iPad. Therefore, the messages on my iPad and computer do now match my iPhone. What is the deal?

    Same issue here for me. I enter my password and it will usually ask for it again. Then accept it, then kick it out.

    I changed my password and removed the iMessage account then put it back on and it is working for me again.

    I'm using an iPod 5th gen and had this problem after logging out and couldn't log back in but when I turned my "time and date" too automatic it worked
